Rescue me! Rescue boat build

Im finally going to get my very own rescue boat!

Im starting with a 26" FighterCat Bling Rocket. Proboat steerable outdrive.

2868 X Power 2989Kv motor
3s2p 4400 mah total and possibly NiMih in the near future
HK cheap orange servo

Since this is a rescue boat Im going to install a Dubro kwik switch thru the hull. This will allow the boat to have batteries hocked up and hatch sealed and waiting. I am also going to install a 12V pump to continuously pump water thru the system. Reason being this boat will be going to slow while pushing a boat in to effectively cool it. I will be using a transom water pickup for this.

I plan on making this boat about 60/40 CG. I will also be adding a big PVC pickle fork to the front. I will mount this by way of a few long plastic bolts. The pickle fork will have some movement to it, about 1" maybe. So if there are waves or to give better grip on boat being rescue.

Outdrive is now mounted and I started JB Welding the motor mount.

The hull and hardware are all new. Hull was under $50 shipped and the hardware was about $30.

Motor, servo and batts are all used stuff sitting around.

Money is not important. Having the right tool for the task at hand is. Especially when my boats with some money into them hit the water. If something should happen I want them back ASAP.

An old brushed 540 with a low KV on 6 cell nimh would be a better choice for a motor at slow pushing speed.................just FYI, gonna be nice when done

Only one Problem I see with it. You ran the stuffing tube out the transom, I think you should have ran it out the bottom Like the Shock Wave. Reason being as you have seen with mine (Shock Wave) when you have it hooked up the the rig it keep the boat out of the water and not much prop in. The way you have it it mite be even worse,as it is already further up then mine now. Just a thought.

I have sorted out the speed controller I am getting 2x 200 amp ones from r2 hobbies in Hong Kong 2 for £15 bargain and they do have reverse function so that will help turning I can put one in reverse and the other one in forward so it will turn on a sixpence thanks for your help.

I use a old villain with some weaver rails and scope rings. Works well and I can take it off quickly if my kid wants to run his villain I stole from him.

The cool thing about using the villain is the dual out drives make it very sharp turning at low speeds. The bar in the front will roll my monos back over and push the cats back in.

I epoxied in the stuffing tube and stuffing brace. Got the drive line all free and working good and had an realized it was all wrong.

I set this up as a surface drive. Which means the prop will be right on the surface and then the "rudder" will be that little 3/4" or so under the prop.

Its already done up, so Im going to forge on and give it a try. Once I get the ESC and servo mounted I will test it before fully finishing it. So if I need to make a change hopefully it will be easy enough.

I did have the forethought of NOT JB welding the stuffing tube and brace in "just in case" I need to change. lol

No video as my Dad (cam operator) all of the sudden doesnt understand how to work the cam...

This thing was off the chain. It jumps right up and was crazy. It was fast for what it was but uncontrollable. Besides all that I dont NEED fast here.

So Im going to pull the stuffing tube/hardware and go to a more sub-surface setup. Hopefully this will make it more controllable and let it do its job.

Bass, try setting the U-joint 1/2 inch from bottom of boat. Mine is 1/2 inch from very bottom of the boat to the center line of the u-joint.

Well the boats been reworked and tomorrow will be her second test run.

Currently working on getting the basic boat worthy of doing its job. I lowered the outdrive by one spacing. I used the bottom holes from previous mount on the top. On my maidne run this boat was so wild and out of control. I set it up as a surface drive and it cant be so.

I also went to the stock cooling with the pickup in the prop wash. I did this after seeing Budmans Shockwave26 peeing out water even at slow speed with a boat in tow. So the pump idea is history. I also learned with a 2.4 radio with the transmitter off the receiver wont glitch. So no switched needed for off/on.
