I am wondering if your motor is over heating because you are not putting enough load on it.

I run a 1000W heli motor in my 32inch cat with a 440 and it does nearly 60mph on 6s.

I have the 4092 in my 34" balsa cat and it is in the low 40s and the motor gets warm 130 after two laps... and closer to 150 after 5 laps, on a mild prop. Granted she is not as loose as I am hoping to get her, but that is my experience.

You certainly don't NEED a Neu. Just sell the 4074 and get a 4082.

Also the 4092 would help again

Unfortunately the old adage applies greatly to FE, "Fast,cheap,reliable pick any two"
But we do get better speed, reliability at a much cheaper price than a few years back before brushless and lipo.

My main goal with this set up is to have a reliable setup that won't go up in smoke.
For the most part I will be using the full 10000mah 4s capacity until I hit LVC.
I want it to go fast but I am certainly not looking to push my gear to the breaking point.

From what I gather the 4074 will work but I would be pushing the limits of what the motor can handle.
I think I am going to order up a 4082 and try to stuff the 4074 into my apparition.

I got low 50s with a fiegao 9xl on 4s in a DF cyberstorm (short 2-3 min runs) would think a leo 4074 would be a decent step up from a 2 pole 3674 motor.
but if you have the cash for a Neu it would be a much better choice

You certainly don't NEED a Neu. Just sell the 4074 and get a 4082.

I suspected you wanted to tap the potential of this hull...
And the neu will do just that! Overheating a motor can take out the rest of your electronics which can quickly justify the price of the neu.

I am sorta regretting not buying a leo 4083.
I was hoping to get it running around 50+ mph but I think with the 4074 that 40-45mph would be a more realistic goal. Maybe I should just scrap the leo's and go for a neu.

not enough motor. I recommend the Neu 1521 1.5D... just ask lipopower!!
The leo will get hot and not give the speeds a Neu will give. Plus it will wear out much faster than you will like...

that said, what are your goals?

Next step while waiting for the batteries will be to figure out how to mount the servo and esc.

I am still waiting for my batteries once I have received them I will be able to set the COG and install the battery tray appropriately.
