Resale-able recovery boat

Well. I didnt really build this at all but I did come up with a slick as can be idea for recovery. I put a pound and half of ballast in bow of the hammer and tied up this lil rig for pulling a tennis ball on some twine. No drilling no glueing. As the ball pulls against the boat the rope actually tightens itself around hull. As long as I dont goose the trigger it pulls VERY strong and quite quickly. I gave it a try with an old NQD hull full of old packs flipped over in the lake. check out some pics.!!!

looks good. im poor so i can't aford to have an extra battery to power a recuse boat, so i use an infladable boat.

I ran it again this evening as my SV was running on choppy water and did some 360's and ended on its lid. The Hammer works out great except for the steering under a tow load. Unlike the tug style the hammer depends on movement for steering so no go no steer. Just makes it really unresponsive. I let the wife drive it for a while and it never got a drop in it even without taping the hatch. I am very happy so far.

How does the tennis ball and string method work for recovering boats. I never really got how that worked.

I heard about that method somewhere on the forum. I attached a tennis ball to my Traxxas Blast, and even though it makes it really slow it works wonders! With a steerable outdrive, it's maneuverable at all speeds. It's rescued my boat 3 times so far, and I've been driving it for as many weeks. As for how it works, I usually start by going around the bow of the dead boat. So far I've only had right side up rescues, so the string goes under the boat and gets caught on the rudder.
