flex drive question

anyone know if jb weld works for flex drive connections. I wanted the loctite 603 or 609 but dont really want to spend $24 after shipping for glue.

Anyway, think it will hold?

I saw a thread where FE Chris asked, but I dont know what happened when he used it.

I'm not sure if jb weld will work, I went to my local auto store and bought permatex high temp sleeve retainer, and it holds up fine so far, I think it is permatexs's version of loc tite 603 or 609. It was only like 11 bucks for a lil tube.

Hi stranger ; got that villian running smooth/ Yes, sleeve retainer for cable to cable stub works perfect and heard nothing but good reports.

lol, no two villains is enough. I need this flex drive for my jet drive villain, that I rebuilt. I saw the permatex tonight, might try that. I modded the drive a lot and ended up with the drive shaft too low to hook the motor to.

Well, I tried it out, looks like it will work. I ended up using the jb weld to mount the motor :). Luckily I'll be testing the boat in a stream so if there's a problem, hopefully it wont be a big deal. I went a quicker on the paint prep than normal, but I'm antsy.

to update this thread, the permatex did in fact hold. It says a lot since this joined the prop shaft to a brass pipe to the flex cable, so it had two points where it could fail.

Good to hear, It has a really high strength of adhesion, it says on the back of the box like 9000 lbs of tinsel strength or something like that.
