I just got this hull/hardware setup in the door tonight.

I planned on putting my 2868 2989Kv motor into it with a 120A ESC and using 2 3S 2200 MAH packs in series. But this boat is just tiny.

The motor wont fit in properly without sanding the rear motor mount brace to allow clearance to install it. The wires touch the hull bulkhead/flotation.

The boat itself is actually pretty darned nice. The stinger is a straight shaft/fixed. The shaft rides in ball bearings both ends. Only the last 1" IF is flex.

I think I would like this boat much more without the flood chamber.

Where do I put the batteries? On the deck? LOL

I know this boat very well. I have a build post look for "electric" 2s battery will fit on the left side barely. I ran it with a 5000mah 2s lipo and it would run a long time on it. Fun boat for my son and I. At one point or another in the process here is what you will deal with.
1. See that outer shaft and how it comes through the hull with no screws or bolts to mount it in place on the back. They slide that thing in with little or no glue, it will eventually leak. I would suggest pouring some epoxy back there to hold it in place. On one of mine, I ended up mounting a complete sv27 stinger.
2. The inner shaft has a tendacy to break right where the flexible wire meets the hard steel shaft. You might start searching for a few replacements. Out of four boats we had (another Dad and his son) two failed, two did not to this day. May work out for you.
3. Tape up the holes, pour some water in the flood chamber and check for leaks. Now is the time to check. Some had leaks some did not.
4. You will need more weight than they gave you and epoxied in the flood chamber for it to work reliably, not a huge amount, but some more.

That all said, we had a blast with them and the actually handled quite well. My son and I basically abused them a whole summer. He eventually ran one into a floating dock and impaled the boat in a hunk of styrofoam(Thud). That was the end of that boat. Kinda funny, he just looked at me and walked away...chuckle.

I mainly bought this for rescue rig duty.

My 3S 2200 pack fits tightly.

I was hoping not to buy a motor for this boat- but Im going to have to.

What size motor fits best? Im looking for reliability not top speed.

I have a tenshock mono 1 which has a very similar layout-- I use a single 3S 2600mah pack with a feigal 380 10xl, get 4.5min runs with good speed. Flood chamber is a great feature for a fun boat to toss around.
My boat is a little longer though-- 25".

I assume you meant parallel........................Can you relocate the servo and put two batts on the wood platform?

What does the package weigh? Any idea on the weight of the empty hull?? Any pics of the bottom??

Cant get a weight on it, batteries in my scale are dead. The hull itself is very light. It already has all the hardware on it and the wood.

No leaks but I do seem some areas that concern me. The flood chamber is separated by a piece of wood. The bottom is fiberglass voered, but not the top. Also there is a seam where the wood is exposed along with the transom wood. Im going to put some resin down the wood to seal it. Also the drive shaft as noted.

I am thinking of just putting the 2868 motor in it. I just know from past experience that motor and only a single battery pack is going to yield about 1 1/2 minutes or so run time. At least it did in my 25" Prince.

Im leaning towards the outrunner but unsure what kind of temps to expect. Im not looking to over prop this boat nor go fast. Just need a stable platform with enough torque to put a rescue rig on the front and push upto a 42" Osprey back to shore. For props I have an array of plastics and a X437/3 blade.

I ended up going with the cheap outrunner I posted a few posts back.

For under $11 I wanted to see what its about.

I need to get a smaller ESC for this boat and slap it all together and try it out.

I made the extremely stupid mistake of blindly believing the assembly actually lined up the motor/motor mount to the stuffing tube before gluing it together.

So I reinforced their CA glue with epoxy. And tonight I tried to put a motor w/coupler in... NOPE. Now I gotta break the entire shaft loose and try again!
