    tunnel hull build by Dana

i got this hull from g.rose…. its built well and was a great price.this was a kit called villain, and apparently was the precursor to the vs1? dont quote me on that….
anyways, the first question i have is about the overhang on the ridepads…. why?
i started by tearing out servo mount and backplate for new ones, and filling holes, after all this boat was raced, and im a sport boater, so i want it to look sweet.
then i did some sanding to remove paintr and what not. ill lay carbon in the radio box, sand and recoat with resin, sand, prime, sand paint.
    heres where i amIMG_1778.jpgIMG_1785.jpgIMG_1793.jpgIMG_1797.jpgIMG_1796.jpg

The over hang ,if you are talking about the rear of the boat, keeps it from hooking. Looking good. If you put a Ul1 and OS leg on it and the NEW transom it may be even faster. Keep posting.

I was talking about the overhang on the sides of the ride pads. Can I fill those in?
What do you mean "new" transom Gary?
        Thanks -)

I'm sorry I thought when you said back plate, you were going to do some modifications. The pads are built that way to decrease hooking I believe.Tunnels have that attribute. Just a theory but it would seem that it would create more stability in the straights when on top of the water. Just give yourself enough room in the box to move your batt. When you finish if you need help dialing it in I will help. I am sure however there are people on the forum that can assist you better than I. I think you are going to be pleased when you are finished

I am more than happy already with the boat and the price I paid.
I took everything out for that very purpose of making a larger area for the battery to move.
My plan is to make it a sport boat with good speed and great looks.
Ul1 motor huh? What about a turnigy 2300kv? Too much?

Ul1 is as much as I could go in Namba. I think it is 2030KV. I use a m445. you can try a X642 also. X442 is safe and fast enough for sport boating. A aquacraft 60 amp is a real good esc. Not heavy or bulky. Good luck. The servo should be FORWARD

Yep, the servo is going up front. I've had many ul-1 motor esc before and yes they're good so we'll see.
For now I'm gonna pick away slowly and have fun putting a new face on it.
I'm gonna grab a ps295 cowl for it too...

Do you think it can handle more than ul1 motor?

the plan is gonna be os leg turnigy 2300kv so far. im finally getting back around to doing some work on this thing. i decided to strip the cowl and reglue the bottom piece, so i tore it up and cleaned it up to reglue. i used some of this stuff and a scuff padf to remove the glue from tape and spraypaint, without melting the plastic.
i found a few cracks in the cowl, so im not sure if ill continue with this thing, when new is like 20 bux shipped, plus i was considering a ps295 cowl. we'll see
Next i sanded the crap outta everything and put a fresh coat of resin over it. tomorrow ill sand the sponsons and do some mudwork there before i prime the whole thing with ncx255. Gonna be a looker and be fast….

                        more today…
So under the right side sponson was a little rough, so i went ahead and put some filler there, and the bottoms of the sponsons, while i had it out, then sanded all that down flat.
the middle underside is the cleanest part of this boat, so ill just give that a sanding before primingIMG_2096.jpgIMG_2097.jpgIMG_2098.jpgIMG_2101.jpg.
tomorrow ill seam seal some of the gaps and things to seal everything up and look nice.
