this is what i have ATM, not much but i have shipments from hk with the strut and the packs (4*3S 2650mah), and a shipment from fc with the hull and esc (160a), with a few other tidbits from both

took a carbon fiber rod out of my rigger today to use as a flooded tube, i think it's 1/2" OD, should give a little more adjustment.
I filled one end about 1/2" long with silicone, I plan to let it dry overnight (since it's so thick, usually it's 2hr or so) and pierce a small hole in it, then stretch it around the stuffing tube, hopefully it's a good seal and I don't have to actually glue it in.

i can't wait either, all I have left to arrive is the stuff from fightercat, hasn't shipped yet (been 5 days or so) but I understand what ben is going through
do you think those turn fins will be big enough? i saw them on a 25" bling rocket so I feel like they are for a smaller boat

Yeah I think they might be a bit small for this hull but give it a go and see, I am waiting on Ben too I am sure he has tons on at the moment

first big question:
i am running a wire drive and i have the stuffing tube from fightercat, I am also running a hobbyking strut, at the moment only the teflon fits inside the strut and not the stuffing tube, is the stuffing tube supposed to fit in?

Don't use teflon with a wiredrive, or anything for that matter, just the proper sized brass stuffing tube for the wire or cable.
Less drag with plain brass and nothing to wad up and explode if it gets hot for some reason.
Properchopper has a great tip of using an automotive vacuum plug the seal the inboard side of a wiredrive.
To each their own. In my mind if a part thats not needed isn't used it can't cause problems. If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

understood, I have some k&s 1/4 brass laying around, leftover from my hydro with a 3/6" flex, is that a good size?
i asked in another thread if 1/4 was good, and someone (forget who) told me to buy the stuffing tube on the drive page at fightercat.
got all my bullets soldered today, where's the CG best on these?

Jeff Wohlt uses a 1/8" for his .062 wiredrives he makes. Not 100% sure what mine is for .078, might be next size up, Not my install. Smaller than 1/4 by a fair bit though.
Been thinking of doing my next mono with a stuffing tube that steps up through a number of sizes as a wet well setup for adustability.
I've seen some pictures with a pretty long length of wire unsupported. All I can do is try, worst is I'll rip it out and make a different setup.
With a wire drive remember you want the motor pretty far forwards so the bend in the stuffing tube can be gradual. If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

I made a transom mockup so I can place components since I do not have access to a drill press at the moment, just a hand drill
on some of the holes the bits wandered and the hardware is a little skewed, on the mockup it's not that important, i'll wait to get a proper drill press before I go at it on the hull
current measurements:
strut bottom 1/4" off base of vee
trim tabs also 1/4" off the bottom
turn fin brackets again 1/4" off the bottom
rudder is 1/2" from the top, no idea how far from the bottom but it's 150mm long.
water pickup just sticks under the boat about 1/8-1/4"Attached Files

You have to telescope the strut nose down in size. I think the 078 tube is 5/32 or one step up from 1/8".
