After the extremely mean email I just received, this and the tunnel boats I have to build will probably be the last batch of hulls I ever build for anyone. I just cannot believe the impatience of some people. Talk about downright out of line. Mike

You do your best with the time you have. You try to take your time and build a quality product that people can enjoy for years to come, you front all the money in most cases and take the risk to build a hull, and then you get slapped in the face when you don't have time to do a couple extras that were offered up as a courtesy. 99% of my customers have become my friends and I have tried to keep a personal relationship with them, and give them the customer service AFTER the sale they deserve, to the best of my ability. I take phone calls and stay on the line for 2 hours in some cases to make sure the people get what they need and if I don't have that product, I send them to the people who do. The countless hours spent just trying to help, and when I finally get my day job back after 9 months of just trying to survive and ask for a little forgiveness for not being able to do some fancy paintwork and other extras, I get beat up, well...I'm done. I purchased hardware for this hull too, only for the person to ask for their deposit back. This is only the second person I have had unhappy with me in 2 years of doing this. The other person was understanding, and we have become friends (he knows who he is as he was the first to call me after he read the above post). Man, so frustrating. Mike

Pete, I will offer kits, but that is it. To put this much time into a build and have this happen just drains a person. Its just not worth it anymore. I have been working 7 days a week on building hulls for the last 8 months straight. I did it because I knew others were depending on me getting them their products. Some have waited 4-8 months in the past because they knew what they wanted. To them, I am grateful. People like that put a roof over my head for the last 9 months, and I can never repay that gratitude. So thank you to them, Mike

Man, I'm glad I got my kit already...just kidding Mike!

It would be a real shame to the hobby to lose a very good builder and designer...I hope you reconsider...

              Peace bro,

Mikey, Unfortunately having to deal with difficult people is part of doing business. There is no way you can ever make everyone happy. Shake if off bro. Take the weekend off and take a ride up to the Showdown on Saturday. The vast majority of us appreciate what you do for the hobby and are willing to wait for the quality products you give us. The rest can buy a VS-1.

Well said ...I work retail and know all about it. Mike, don't worry about it, the majority of us are adults and are in the same boat managing life, work and a hobby we love, so we understand. It's obvious that you have a large following here, fire the bad customers, it's for the best.

Mike as a former business owner I understand exactly what your talking about but dont let one idiot stop you I wish I never quit my business and may start it back up again soon. You build an amazing product and it would be a shame for it to disappear. I think everyone here understands what we are getting when we have you build a hull. Can I build it? I probably can, I can paint it and do a nice job too because you have helped teach me how even though you offer it on your boats. I choose to have you do it because I know the quality you put into the boats. I know your working on my H20 now take all the time you need man anyone that cant understand you need to take care of your family first is just selfish and unreasonable.

Couple of things Mike that I hope might cheer you up.

If God wanted us to use fiberglass boats he would have made fiberglass trees. To that timber trees take time to grow.

Buying from ML Boatworks is about quality over quantity. Good boat builds take time to finish ML Boatworks perfect builds take a bit longer.

Down here in Aus we have a saying that any job could be for Ron. That is later on.

Cheers mate and keep smiling that keeps them guessing what your up to.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. This is exactly what I mean. You build a friendship with the people you do business with, and you never expect to have someone come back and act like you were trying to do them wrong. I guess seeing that happen makes you wonder why you put all the time into each hull. Either way, he got his money back from me, and I will move on from it. Its been an expensive week to say the least. Just ready for my first paycheck to come at this point so i can get back on track. Mike

Hey Mike, sorry you are having a rough time of it at the moment and really glad to hear you got a job so this can return to a hobby.
People have said to me," oh you should go into making and selling boats!" and your mean guy experience is exactly why I don't!
I sincerely hope this doesn't taint your love for the hobby and diminish the joy you obviously have. Your contribution has been huge and I am glad to see you will still be selling the kits. This ought to give you the free time to enjoy and play with the boats.

I just have my 20L all together and before west systems outer coating I am right at 3.4 lbs. I will be between 6-7 lbs running if not a tad more. I'm gonna be running the neu 1521 1.5d. As you know here in SE Texas we can have pretty rough racing conditions so weight and torque are mothers milk.

Anyway, try to think about all the friends you have made instead of the few people you will not be working with...
I'll post up some pics of my finished and painted race boat.
Thanks for your dedication to us, you ROCK!!

Jesse, I think a 1521 will work great in the GP335 (new name for 20L). I am looking forward to finishing all the builds so I can continue to create new hull kits. I have a lot of designs in my head, but just have not had the time to create them!

Well, I got to the new pond today, unfortunately a car show was going on, and the car show bunnies would not let me park in my normal spot which allows for normal oval running, so I had to run like you see in the videos of the GP335 and GP400. The water was abnormally calm today. Usually its been really rough, and this lineup of hulls REALLY likes the rough stuff. I will make more videos when the water is worse with some wind to show you they perform even better under pressure! Right now, I am going to say the GP335 is faster than the GP400. I am really thinking about making a 36" GP360 for 6s power as I think the GP400 could be a really great 8s hull. The GP335 is running a TP power 4082 2200kv motor and fightercat 2-8s 240a esc. They are coming back cool, along with the 6600mah 4s 45c hyperion setup. The GP400 is running a 1527 1.5d 1500kv motor and Castle hydra ice 240a lv esc. The temps on them are fine, but I found out today that the 6500mah 6s1p 35c hyperions I am running need to have the ground wire shortened inside the battery shrink. I did not realize the ground wire ran the length of the pack, and it gets hot. The cells were fine, but the wire is stressed from that added length. None the less, both hulls ran really nice today. I am learning that x4 series octura 2 blade props are the way to go on these hulls. The GP335 was running a cut down to 45mm x450, and the GP400 is running an x455. Enjoy, Mike

                                GP335
