The only thing this rule discovery hurts is the turnout at the NAMBA Nats. Most local NAMBA clubs are not going to give a hoot about this particular rule. Enjoy your Stealths and race them locally. If your local NAMBA club gives you a hard time about it, find an IMPBA club to race at.

Sean is right; we will work together as a club to get this ironed out. Me personally, I am not going push a racer away that wants to run this hull in our club but the decision needs to be made as a club. Ultimately, I will end up fixing mine since I do like to travel to races when I can. However I would assume the club will allow it in its current molded form.
I feel a little responsible too. I never measured the bottom of mine to make sure it fit the rules. Like many others I just assumed it was OK. So I guess it’s partially my fault too.
Don’t worry, we will get it all ironed out.
Later,
Mike

But what happens if you win a race using the Stealth and another racer who finishes 2nd running a legal hull. If the guy who finished 2nd protests your Stealth hull, he should win...correct?Originally posted by LuckyDuc View PostThe only thing this rule discovery hurts is the turnout at the NAMBA Nats. The rule wasn't just "discovered"... It's been there for several years.
I agree that most local clubs aren't going to care, but what are the point of rules if people aren't going to follow them?
Do we know if the IMPBA has the same rule??Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

It probably depends on who it was finishing first... If it were me... then I'm pretty sure they'd protest...Originally posted by detox View PostBut what happens if you win a race using the Stealth and another racer who finishes 2nd running a legal hull. The discovery I refer to is in regards to the discovery that the Stealth hull is not NAMBA legal.Originally posted by Darin Jordan View PostNice attitude...

While you may not like my attitude, I’ll say this…
If you have a NAMBA club where you have 3-4 guys running a stealth hull in the sport class, which is the case in MI, where none of them were aware of this rule prior to joining or buying the hull… Do you adapt the rules locally to keep the racing fun, OR do you make them add bondo to their fancy new paint jobs to conform?
If these new members don’t want to add bondo to their boats, do you tell them to go pound sand, possibly loosing new members? I would vote to allow this hull in my local NAMBA club, but then I’m more concerned with having fun. JMHO. Not everyone that races at the local level is concerned with racing at National events. What people decide to do in their local clubs to make them successful is their prerogative.

well I would imagine that the FE 30 hull is too narrow also, It looks too me to be less width than the stealth?
Do to the lack of good hulls, I would suggest a NAMBA rule change to allow these boats. Having to mod the hulls to be able to use them is just silly.
I'm sure if NAMBA had a petition to amend this rule, that it would surely be considered.

IMPBA has the same 65% rule in the current but hard to find FE Sport Hydro rules.Originally posted by LuckyDuc View PostThe only thing this rule discovery hurts is the turnout at the NAMBA Nats. That's not how rule changes happen in NAMBA. Read section 7 of the NAMBA rule book to see how it works. I'd love to see the rules changed to mimic nitro again, but I'm not going to bother with starting a proposal. I know the rules and build boats that conform to them.Originally posted by RCKong View Postwell I would imagine that the FE 30 hull is too narrow also, It looks too me to be less width than the stealth?

This problem actually stems for the fact that the FE world decided that we needed different hull rules from nitro.
I have no idea what the dimensions are on the FE 30. I believe the question was asked when it first came out and it was legal (narrower ride pads if I remember correctly). I know our FE director races one, I assume he's measured it.Brian "Snowman" Buaas

David told me that the Insane doesn't have the cutouts in the ride-pads that the Stealth and Whiplash has. Tunnel width and transom width are the same... no issues there.Originally posted by raptor347 View PostI have no idea what the dimensions are on the FE 30. Since there's no official class, that just means all the P limited sport boats in IMPBA run as P sport hydros. They just have really anemic power systems.Originally posted by LuckyDuc View PostYes, but there is no P limited Sport hydro class in IMPBA... Officially anyway, so that rule is moot.
The rule still applies.
I've got an idea, everyone gets to pick a rule that doesn't get applied to them. I know the first one I'd pick.Brian "Snowman" Buaas

You had a FE 30 awhile back that you were trying to sell. Didn't you measure it to make sure it was legal?Originally posted by Darin Jordan View PostDavid told me that the Insane doesn't have the cutouts in the ride-pads that the Stealth and Whiplash has. Wouldn't this help the guys out that are racing on a limited budget?
