I don't know tiqueman. When I saw this "I can't enlarge the holes any more, they are pretty big now." I figured I should at least make the suggestion about slotting them.

Actually i just went back and re-read a couple things...yes i drilled out the holes to make them larger, didn't file or slot them...now however, i plan on sloting them, no more drilling...i have 2 holes almost big enough to stick cooling line thru I did that before i posted orrigionally, haven't touched the back end since! No Tiqueman, i haven't seen the Super Daytona, i'll have to look that thread up! So what is that epoxy additive called, i'll stop at my LHS sometime towards the end of the week, wanna know what i'm looking for. Here's a couple more pics, now you can see the holes, i have no idea how i missed so far, no clue, and the pink stuff all over it is some Bondo spot filler, yup she's gonna be a bondo bucket

The filler for the epoxy is called Microbaloons,, as i was looking at the picks i thought, if you can drill the lower holes properly and mount the stut and your top bolts fit threw then you could cut some brass tubing that your bolts just bairly fit threw and insert them threw the hull epoxy around them to fill the holes, then you wouldnt get epoxy on the threads and you could use longer bolts so it would be easyer to put the nuts on the inside..

Thats not a bad idea, i have alot of brass tubing laying around in about every size imagionable. I also thought about taking some styrene plastic rods, got plenyt of that to, epoxy them into the holes and with the bottom drilled right re-drill the top holes. That would effectively fill the holes, and should be plenty strong enough.

Cudos for doing this yourself Checkmate! Hope you're able to fix the transom issue. Would it be better just to fill in the whole transom and start from scratch? Then you could just hold the bracket up, mark the holes, and drill.

Just an opinion, I've never done it myself (on a boat) before but that's how I would go about doing it.

Thanks Gimp! I've built a few boats in the past, several nitro out-board tunnels, but most of the inboard boats i've put together were bare hulls i bought from other racers with most of the hardware holes already drilled. I'm really eager to do up this hull, the lines and design of the Daytona/Genesis are absoulutly gorgeous in my opinion. Yeah, i'm gonna plug those holes and start over, i think that is my best bet. I got all winter to mess with it, won't be seeing water till at least April.

Nice, good luck with your build man!! Mine is gonna take a little while to build, i'm in no hurry to finish it as i've got till probably april or may before i'll get to run it anyways. Post up some pics as you progress thru the build!! What motor ESC are you going with?

Got another question for ya Tiqueman, what cowl locks do you guy's use for the Daytona, i was gonna go with these: http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=ose-80350 or should i go with the "large" ones? Only reason why i ask now is becuase i want to have all holes drilled before i get ready to paint the hull. Thanks!

Sounds like a good set-up, should be plenty quick!! I'm going with a Leopard 4074 1800kv and a t-180, mostly to run 4s and 14 cells NIMH's. The paint scheme is up in the air, i have a few ideas in mind but i can't make up my mind which way i want to go, seems like i change my friggin' mind everday LOL.

I usually decide on an idea for paint and it seems to change along the way.Always works out though.

Will it run ok on nimh? I've got a load of 8.4v packs but thought my set up will pull too many amps and ruin them? Ive held off buying any lipo's till the spring as I know nothing about them and want to research them properly but would be good to get it wet using my nimh's

I asked a ton of questions before i went with this motor/esc combo, it should work OK on NIMH's. It will push them to thier limits i'm sure but should run good. Kind of a bad example but i have a Traxxas Spartan too and that's all i've ever run in the boat is NIMH's, it's good size deep-vee and i've never had any issues with the NIMH's. But that was with the origional 1600KV traxxas motor and ESC, i have not run my Spartan yet with the new Castle 1800kv motor and Castle ESC but it's supposed to run fine with NIMH's too. I'm not goin for all out speed which is why i went with a milder combo than most with the Daytona hull do. A couple months back i finaly bought a good lipo compatable charger so this spring i plan on a getting a couple sets of 2s lipo packs, but i'll still run my NIMH's once in a while too and the boats maiden voyage will probably be on NIMH's as well.

Do you know what level the strut should be set as? I think it's dead level with the last ride pad but want to be sure before I install the stuffing tube

That's where Scott(Tiqueman) has mine installed at. It's also where it was on my old MG.
