Just in the interest of comparing apples to apples...
NAMBA regulations are pretty specific on what is allowed to run in what classes. My DF33 is a "P mono" which allows a maximum of a 34" hull and a max of 4s 2p 10,000 ma total battery capacity.
Running 6s puts you in "Q" where the maximum hull length is 40" with a max of 6s 2p 10,000 ma total battery capacity. Would you really want to run your 33" Cyber "Q" against my 36" Sprintcat Q on the offset offshore course?

LOL sometimes you just gotta make a point. I just happened to spot this one this morning and after seeing the video from my youtube page realised it was you that I was chatting back and forth with in the comments yesterday. (made a good excuse for dropping in another vid as a "visual aid" too)

As I mentioned yesterday I had ran the DF33 with a X450/3 once and went back to the X646/3 as the boat handles better that way. The bigger the wheel you are spinning, the more it affects your handling with prop torque.

I'm using this as I have found it to be pretty accurate. There isn't a thing on here for 3 blade props but I would guess with the X646/3 on 4s I would have a top speed on 52 which would be less than I'm getting on my current set-up with the 1515. Bill, how long does 10000mah last in your set-up?

In that video that you posted I actually ran 8 laps. On our course 6 laps is 1 mile and I was running a penalty lap for the buoy cut that I did. Somehow I lost count and if I had stopped on the same lap as Chris it would have been 7. Even after 8 laps nothing in the boat was hot (including the batts). I'm guessing I could run 4+ minutes with no problem on that setup.
The Sprintcat is a different story though. It gets the packs pretty warm with just 6 laps and would hit lvc before 8 laps.

Wish I had a race in the UK that did laps instead of minutes. Since my lake takes 25mins to get to I think I will have to invest in a few more Lipos. Couple of sets for extra run time.
I went there today as the sun was shining and it was warm at 6c.

Looks like you need to build yourself a scale boat. Something like a USCG Ice breaker.

If it makes you feel any better it's about a 25 minute ride for me to get to our lake too. We don't have too much trouble with ice flows in Florida though.

That does make me feel slightly better. I get mad at people who live right by a lake and don't own a RC boat
A icebreaker would of been good as it was only a thin 2mm layer of ice on top.
Only dropped to -6c and every lake out there froze. Probably won't venture out for another 2 weeks as the weather is staying pretty cold here.
Snow is forecast tomorrow..... Will have the 1520 in before my next outing.

I didn't bother with reinforcing the DF hull when I built it. It was actually my 2nd build and I was still learning the basics. (still learning today as well). It's getting time to start thinking about replacing that one as it's been through a lot. It took a bad hop off a wave once and submarined all the way to the bottom. Came back to the surface upside down then sunk again as the nose of it was split apart from the deck. The transom started trying to break out of it while I was at the FE Nats this past year. Fixed it with some 5 minute epoxy and kept running. It recently developed a "bubble" in the bottom (think the glass may be seperating) so fixed that by blocking it down flat and filling from the inside.
The motor that's in it now is the 4th one. It started off with a 1415/1Y, went from that to a 1515/1Y, then a 1521/1.5D (toasted that one because I had the timing too high) and now the 1521/1Y which seems like a good solid setup for what I use it for. It's not blazing fast but it runs as fast as most can run in race chop and it's been very reliable. It all comes down to the phrase "you have to finish the race in order to win the race."

So I am also thinking 5s now. I won't be racing competitively so no need to go for 4s. I don't really want to cut my BEC on my esc so I rather not push it on 6s but I think I should still be able to prop up a little.
1600 on 5s with a X645 should give me 54MPH. I'm looking at Winmax Lipos as they have proven top notch for me before and the pricing ain't bad either.

You dont need to cut the bec wire just remove the pin from the plug with the wire still soldered on so you can simply put the plug back to original if needed in future.

Thanks for that tip. I think I still will run on 5s first. See how it goes.
