A BIG thanks to all who have given me a thumbs up here........i really appreciate it and its nice to get a pat on the back, especially from other FE nuts! I have a good amount of sweat and pride built into her as well. Running her past me at 64 mph gives me chills with the 30 ft roost and motor scream...............in person its quite impressive.
Ray, i think a 1717 on 6s is a great choice, my 39" i have dubbed "Vader" has that setup and it really scoots.
crrcboatz, thanks for hangin in with the thread/build.......... Lookin forward to that "special" item you are waiting on and to see your build come together!!
Sir, this build is AWESOME! I really like the big sport boats! The 2028 and newhydra ICE really make it more accessable for us FE guys to make the biggins go fast, and you're build is proof of that.
Great work, and thanks for proving the innovation of FE!

This is an awesome build.
- Make, I hope you didn't mind the pic I posted a few post backs. Don't/Didn't mean to hi-jack your great build thread you have going here.
Ray I know that was my original assessment but I now take that back , I have stuffed a LMT2280/7 into a DF35 and am extremely happy with my decision and the boats drivability . I think the 2028 would also work great in a 40" hull......hell Snipers have LMT3080's in them and they are only 4.5" longer .
Ok, class is in session. I'm posting the "learn from my mistake and save yourself money".
The graph downloaded from the Castle 200hv clearly shows many spikes of 200+, and as high as around 215. I ran in a smaller lake for those stats, and the straights were about 5 seconds at WOT, very minimal chop/waves.........
I KNEW what was gonna happen, and still did it. I ran today in a much larger lake, with some decent chop, looooong straights with the prop diggin' and exiting, amp spikes galore.............had good water flow.........
Poooooof!
Yep, magic smoke.
I swear i had a preminition it was going to happen, dont know why i ran with that prop. I guess its what i had with me and wasnt expecting the chop. It really fried it, the motor wires just fell off the ESC when i took it out..........
Live and learn, I am going to throw a SF240 in my cart this evening, the Castle logging is nice but i want more amperage than the 200a it provides..............the 240 in my 50" Hydro works very well.
Going to a true 457 now, not a 460 cut down. It'll be 'the' prop i believe, and will keep me right at 60-ish.
Not the first speedo i cooked by any means............it's all good...............
Thanks millzee............really no use getting mad any more.......did my share of that in the past with these suckers. Whats done is done.
Upside is the boat handled the chop fine, is still a Brute and is a treat to see flying by with the monster roost. The whole setup is sound, now just an appropriate speedo.
once the speedo comes in it should be better, somebody should make a nice 400A speedo, of course the price tag would come with, but for the guys building something that needs 400A, price isn't a problem.
it must feel so nice to have that much power at the tips of your fingers. My friend wants to build a boat, i'll reccomend he build a BIG one, just so i can test it out for him.
I just saw what happened to the boat on your youtube vid! That is crazy! I have never seen a boat do that before!!!! That scares the crap outta me for my big new boat.
Yep.................RIP. Got back the bottom half a week later with a diver. Saved all the hardware, driveline, motor, and two of the batts after a week under. The hull was just not made for almost 70 mph................i think i hit a turtle cuz the boat tilted in a millisecond.............. Its all good, i have a shiny new Carbon kevlar 47" sittin in front of me!
