I was thinking of that, pretty much the same set up as in my SV27's. But because I'm expecting this cat to hit speeds in excess of 60mph I would like to have additional velcro straps to hold the batteries securely, or some other innovative way to tie them down.

You could put some foam or pool noodle on top of the the battery to keep the battery pushed down on the velcro.

Or you could lay a couple of FG sheets on the trays and then cut slits where your zipties or velcro strap go.

I just think you're better off without trays though.

I just removed the trays and put a 2" wide velcro on the bottom of the hull, you can find it at Fabricland for $5 a meter.

We are thinking along the same lines, I prefer no trays as well, and actually considered putting some straps in under a layer or two of FG. But decided I didn't want the straps glued in permanently.

Hay Kevin how about the velcro on the floor,,why not put 2 straps spaced out then the 2'' vecro over them so you would have the 2''on the floor holding dont the straps!!! PS the struts on its way!!!!

That was another idea I was thinking of trying, and will probably start there. I'm just wondering if the velcro straps will make the velcro pad "lumpy" enough that you won't get good surface contact with the velcro on the battery packs. I will loose fit it first to see what it looks like.

BTW, I had velcro on top of the battery trays and two straps around each battery. The batteries were still securely fastened to the trays when I pulled them out.

I thought I would start lower and slowly work my way up. If i had gotten more than 1 run in, I eventually would have been there.

Its a good idea to have straps as well. When I had min, I glued straps to the sponson bottoms and put velcro over it. I went velcro only at first and kept bouncing batteries loose.

No, I know lots of guys recommend to unload the ESC by running a separate Rx pack, and lots of other guys run the BEC and have no problems.

I'm going to chance it and run with the BEC, if she blows, she blows.

The straps glued in and velcro'd over is along the lines of what I was thinking, good to know someone has tried it successfully.

The extra foam to hold the batteries down and provide some flotation is a good idea too.

I tape the hatch, and I know when I flipped it it stayed dry inside, but you never know when extra flotation might save the day.

It has a quite strong adhesive on one side, comes in black or white.

If you want to be sure, you can sand down the area a little bit, clean it and warm it up a little before applying, that should give it a nice strong grip when it cools down.

My boats arent perfect so i like to use the battery mounts with the velcro on them,,, no matter what i do theres always just alittle water inside and i like to keep my batts up off the floor!!but thats just me..
