1/6 Crackerbox getting dialed in
I have been building several 1/6 Crackerboxes. The 1/6 Crackerbox has a temendous performance advantage above the old 1/10 scale size right from the start. Along the way I have been making some small changes to the hulls and drivelines to see what effect these changes have on the performance and handeling characteristics of a 1/6 Cracker. I built this hull 31.5 inches long with a full 5 degrees deadrise per side for a total of 10 degrees deadrise. The stuffing tube has a very slight J bend which allows the prop to have a little less downward angle but is still under the transome. I placed the trim tabs further apart from each other. Once the hull was ready for paint ,I painted her the same as my last one as I really like that paint job and thought It was only right to name her Hot Stuff II. Next when building the cockpit and drivers I set the driver and mechanic lower in to the hatch to create a littlle less drag. The end result of the changes I made created a great running Crackerbox. Its not a night and day difference but this set up seems a bit more predictable and and holds water a bit more. If you have never diven a Crackerbox they can be a handful to drive and can be very frustrating. This set up lessens those habbits. Here are a few pics of her!

Here are a few more shots of the driveline and internal buisness end.

Thanks for the comments guys, I don't have or use plans. I designed them around APBA rules scaled to 1/6 size then made templates using demensions and line drawings. Kind of trial and error until I was happy with the end results. I'm not a good enough draftsman to create a set of plans that are good enough for someone else to use or follow.

Now thats a bet I won't take.,LOL Really if you use a smooth throttle they're not bad at all. Nothing like the old 1/10 scale Crackers were.Originally posted by ron1950 View Postcant wait to try one rod..i say i can flip it in 30 ft ...any bets? lol

If your boat or any boat has 5 deg of deadrise each side then it has 5deg deadrise total you dont add the two together .The deadrise is the angle measured upwards from keel level, you dont say i have 5one side 5 the other therefore i have 10deg deadrise. So your cracker has 5 deg of deadrise
.
