I just set up the same hull with a Leopard 4074, 2000KV, 6S, T180, and a Octura 442 prop(detounged).
Thats 44,000 RPM unloaded. Started out with a .187 flex drive and couldnt get it running smooth at 44,000 rpm. Switched to .078 wire drive, and the viabration problems went away.
I got about 8 runs on this setup and still working out the bugs. Motor and ESC run cool, but I had to water cool the stuffing tube. The hull runs LIGHT on the water and goes like heck!

I am suprized you went for the turbine hatch the classic is easer to tape down where are you putting the Lipos behind the motor,,, Great boats I must have built 10 of them from 40-80 Nitro they handle well into the 60"S good luck and keep us postedOriginally posted by Rumdog View PostI 'm still undecided on what I will do to seal her up. I'm either going to run a sub hatch, or mod the turbine hatch. I'd have to cut off the front of the cokpit and attach it to the hull, and seal up the turbine and build a lip in the rear to tape.

I hate the looks of the classic hatch. It would have been MUCH easier though. My lipos fit into the sponsons. I finished up the hatch and maidened her yesterday. Ran 2 sets of lipos through. 4s2p and 5s2p. I cut pool noodle for the sponsons and they hold the lipos firmly in place.
49.1 mph with 4s and a x645. 60.4 with 5s and the same prop. x440/3 wouldnt hook up worth crap. same for a H6. p220 cavitated a bit too. Going to try a m447 today and a x548.
And the turns!! It's all I hoped for! Handles just like big brother!
A little paint on the hatch and maybe some cowl locks and she's done!

couple more:
I used thick lexan and cut the shapes that I wanted to fit the turbine opening and to go across the deck.
I used several layers of light glass to stiffen it up and to attach it to the canopy.
Afterwards, I used a mixing stick masking taped to the rear of the deck so I could lay a little glass on the top side of the deck lip and flood it with resin. I attempted to dye the resin yellow with some acrylic paint. Worked well till it started curing then turned brownish.Attached Files

very nice set up and it looks like it is on its' way for sure.
I was thinking of putting a CC1520 in one on 5s and 6s.
Any thoughts and recommendations?
