I wish I could have mounted the motor before the rails went into the boat!

looking good Kent I am tossing the idea for one of these around. My plans got sidelined a bit as I am building a MM for the kiddo to race novice now. I like the color I was looking at the green black one keep up the good work figuring out the bugs so I dont have to lol

kent, i see you are using 3" motor mount and rail spacing. that was a great idea. i wish i would have gone that route instead of 4" peter z mount.
MAKE SURE THE RAIL IS LOW ENOUGH IN THE FRONT TO GET THE BATTERIES IN. the reason i say this is because mine is tight, they fit but it is tight. i wish i would have made the rails lower. also leave plenty of room to move the cog back to about 25%. i run mine at 27-28% but sometimes i wish i could get it a little further back to loosen her up (and it is hard to get the batteries in that far). your build is looking good to me so far. is that 1/8 ply you are using on the rails?
i am looking forward to seeing this one come together as i have a 29" on the way and will be stealing a couple of your ideas

Why, thank you sir! The 3" rail spacing was Doug S. and Chilli Mike's suggestions (thanks again guys!). The rails are 1/8".... seems like most of the smaller motor mounts are even thinner.... plus it was either 1/4" or 1/8" ply (that's all I could find locally). I mounted the motor mount/ motor on the uncut rails and figured out where I needed to be depth and angle wise and the cut them as LOW as I could....batteries are a nice fit...whew!

I saw that you bought that 29er....Nice snag! If I did not already have this one, I would've jumped on that one! Can't wait to see what you do with her!

Here's a couple pics that I took last night with the rails and lipo in the hull....
