    13 year-old's build

Okay, my 13 year old son wants to build his own boat.

I have two hulls that he can work with a DPI Silencer and an unknown hydro.

I have the following motors available:

    380 size
    ammo 28-35-2700kv
    Mega High Performance Ach 16/25/4
    Fiegao FG28-88

    540
    Fiegao 7L
    Fiegao 8L
    Fiegao 10L

I have a lot of speed controls available:
    Mystery 30a, 60A, 80A, 100A
    Hydra 120
    SV-27 Aquacraft
    BJ-26 Proboat

What combinations(s) would work with either/both hulls?

The silencer will be an easier boat for him to run, and more forgiving in chop. I'd throw the 10L in it on 3s with the 100a speedo.
NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=

I bought the boat for the electronics – that big motor was in it.
Thanks for the offer on the oval master, but I have a dozen boats that are RTR – the whole point is for us to work together and teach him about a hobby that I love. I had him soldering parts for another build last night – so he can solder his own electrical stuff on his own build.

That is EXACTLY the feedback I am looking for. I’m hoping more people will post their thoughts and give me some options

Got any props lyin' around? I'd throw an x438 on it and see what she does...............go up from there if temps are good.

Don’t have any 38mm props lying around. We have a 40mm plastic one that we could try out. We were waiting on props until we figured out what motor and ESC we would use.

Would a SV27 or a Blackjack power system work in either of the hulls?

They would work, but if you have a motor and an ESC why bother? You'd probably want to run the SV or BJ system on 4s if you go that route.............so consider your battery inventory.

Okay, due to the (lack of) suggestions, I’m guessing that the Silencer with the Fiegao 10L, the Mystery 100a ESC and 3s lipos is the only way to go. I have more hardware for that boat than I do for the hydro so it’ll be cheaper to build.
