    Antenna Question

So, for my boat, I decided to use a Spektrum DX3E transmitter and a Spektrum MR3000 receiver (http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...d=dh-spmmr3000). I was wondering if I could use this external antenna with the (http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...?prod=gnd-whip) with the receiver. Please help! Thanks!

I just happen to have one lying around from an old boat...

Can I run the antenna internally?

You can try running it internally, but honestly, I think your range will suffer.

The antenna portion of the Sperktrum MR-series RXs is actually only the last 31mm of exposed COAXIAL wire... COAXIAL being the point of emphasis here. It is NOT just wire, and that being the case, you CANNOT solder it to a standard antenna and have it work. Leave it as is.

The gray portion of the antenna is long in order to give you every opportunity to get the unshielded tip as high out of the boat as possible.

I haven't tested mine with the antenna inside the hull, so I can't say for sure if it will work. If you try it, do so gradually and please do report back your findings.

        Good Luck!

I am using the DX3S, and have two boats with the receivers that have the short 3" antenna inside. Unless you have a neon painted 50"+ boat, you can take these receivers out as far as you would care to. I've had mine out around 125 yards with no problems. May have gone further, but I have trouble steering while holding a pair of binoculars. The longer antenna on the MR3000 was really added for those with carbon fiber hulls, which seems to interfere with reception. I would just thread the long antenna through the standard tube type whip.

Guess you could drill a small hole, and wrap the long antenna around it, and tape it at the top
