need help planning scale build

hey guys, some of you mite remember me but probably not. i've been ghosting the forum for about a year. well any way im planning on making a scale model of my beloved 1994 daughtry marine marlin 170 (better known as an early edgewater before daughtry marine was bought out by north sails and renamed) i dont have any pics atm but can get them very soon but its your basic center console with the original 1993 90hp evenrude V4 that still runs like new but i truely love this boat and really want a winter project lol.

but what i need help with is:
how would i make the skeleton core of the hull?
what would be a good lenth be for a hull about 20 inches maybe more?
would i need to coat the balsa wood with something like fiberglass?

i dont have any expirance with model boats but i do have expirance making highly detailed custom 1/28-1/25 RC car bodies for xmods and mini-z's

and any expiranced people please feel free to jump in with any other problems i may encounter and possible ways to solve them!

I made a scale running model of my 1994 30' Scarab Sport. You can see it here. I just used an Aeromarine hull, its their 31" classic Challenger. I have another fiberglass hull that I was going to use for this project but it wasn't quite right. Its more suited for a single outboard CC. Post a picture of the real boat and I'll see if this hull is close enough. I can sell it to you super cheap.

yea, I've been watching Chris's build and it is truly awesome! i also i remember someone building a scale model of their inboard/outboard sport boat, i think it was called "not so fast sport boat" which is more along the lines of what im looking to do.

i'd love to buy a hull and start from there but the 170 has some very differnt curves on the hull that really makes its look.

I bought this hull on e b a y with the intent to use it for my twin outboard center console build. There is a guy that builds them one by one then sells them. I think I paid $65.00 plus shipping.

It ended up being too small for twin motors. I think it would work great with a single Aquacraft EP1 and you can paint it to match whatever motor you want.

The hull is 26" long and 9" wide. There are two holes that I drilled in the transom to mock up the engine bracket. But if you use it you might want to cut the transom down to match the original boat as the engine is hung on the notched transom on the real boat.
