    N-1 saws mono build

Hey gents, I've decided to build a new N-1 mono for today's power.
My old tride and true proven hull could have dominated a couple more seasons, but I wanted her to get shelved with all her glory..

Again, we're going with a BBY Oval Master 21 but this time we're goin' carbon babe..
This will feature a Gen III BBY boost box transmission, All custom one off hardware inspired by BBY race basic hardware package, and all Novak, and Airtronics electronics

Pictured is the Hull I'm using, and soon I will show you gents the transmission.
A rather simple unit that will acomidate a wide range of gear ratios.

As you see in the pictures this was an ultra light, very nice layup this will be fun..

well I could not find the gear box I made back in 1994 so I built a new one from memory for Willmer.

the output shaft is a bit high though, I like how low yours is. I guess it all depends how far forward the motor is.

I'll be running a flex, so hopefully it won't require too much bend

Bill we can lower it down a little I will just adjust the bend line. It would be a little harder but we could have the tabs bend down for the shafts and up for the motor. That way the shaft is under the mount.

well, i thought about it, and I run my strut really high, so it may be just right.

Randy and Bill... You might consider making a different coupler. If you make a coupler that uses set-screws, then you can reduce it's diameter and lower it down in the boat. Are you planning on running .098 cable or .130??

I'll probably use one of these aluminum jobbers I got from Steve a few years back.
I can no longer use .098 cable with Novak systems on 2s. My N-1 finally has enough to snap one.

                  I'm running .130

1s may be a different story in fact, I need to start ordering that equipment.
I'm sure the N-1 stuff will be perfect for it. 1s1p or possibly 1s2p i'll start testing.

I could not find the set screw coupler, I have a few and can make more as needed. I just put this on to show Willmer.

It would be cool to change M1 to include 1S

I layed up you new deck and hatch Sunday, it is a ultra light one layer deck and the edges of the hatch have a 1/2 inch double layer. I will be letting this mold sit for 7 days to cure and I do with all my hulls.

Why do you think the shaft on the transmission is high ?
That position is determened ( I hope that is the right word ? )
by the diameter of the motor ( with/without coolingcan ) ??????

Its actually erfect. Randy taught me to run the strut a bit shallow and when you calculate the vee etc it adds

If not, I'll just use it for a forward motor setu..
