How to oil 1515 Monster ?

I was wondering if anyone had a good way they were oiling there Castle 1515 monsters. I was going to drill a hole on the end cap or remove it. Anyone done this ? It has been 3 runs and I feel like the bearings need some oil.

The bearings are not sealed, a drop of oil on the outside of each bearing every day will do.

Edit: Ooops, I was really wrong on this one. They are sealed, but I would still not drill holes in the endbells. I guess it won't hurt, but unless they are large holes they will do little good. The Castle motors are sealed to keep out dirt....we don't have that problem inside a hull.

        .
I think he is talking about the latest CC/Neu 1515 series Jay. The older ones had a removable sticker on the rear end bell. And your right. All one had to do was take a razor and slit the sticker and add a drop. Now there is no direct access to that rear bearing. The housing covers it 100%.

I myself have been questioning what to do with mine. I wouldnt drill a hole unless you are in the process of adding new bearings. BTW they are 625ZZ and are used on all the CC/Neu 1512/1515/1518/1520 series. The 1717 uses another size.

The simplest way to oil those bearings in the rear plate is to get a small allen wrench and take off the three screws. Hopefully your end plate is not glued on. One if mine was and I had to tap off the plate. Which meant I ended up having to replace those bearings (side loading).

The end plate comes off pretty easily. Just don't strip the screws. I drill a few holes in the end plate for oil/air drying. Mr. Mike Luscz (cybercxt) coes this. I bought one of his cc/Neu motors, that's where I got the idea.

Called Castle today on the oiling bearings question. No need to oil them they are rated for 1000 hrs. I screwed up and tried to take the end bell off and busted a screw off in the can. Im really mad at myself and should have called castle before i drilled holes in all 4 end bells. Rebuild kit is $20 though. ......Really upset now, not sure if i will make it to L.A. next month.

1000 hours. If completely dry maybe.

Castle said they were sealed, thanks for your help though Rummy ! Wife just gave me the go ahead to get new ones. I am really worried about a motor failure leading to a crash so I will send them in for new ones.
