Villain with a 700 single drive

Anyways, I converted my villain IV to a single drive with a 700 motor. The actual build is on another forum, but I wanted to show you guys too what you help me create. Thanks

Heres a new video running 14 cells and a CF45mm prop, need some turn fins its a handle full now. Transom of the villain is "odd" shaped, might be hard to find one that fits without mods. Enjoy.

OK, instead of starting a new build thread I decided to revive this one since I will be going brushless with this. I'm getting the mystery 80 esc from the freebie giveway and was wondering on a motor choice for it. I'm not looking for insane speeds, just more. It'll run on 12-14 cells. Yes NIMHs I think the wieght will help keep it in the water. I was thinking a range of 1500- 1800? Does that sound good? Maybe the proboat motor or SV or just a Feigao one? This will be my first brushless motor but I have read alot on the subject. Thanks for the

Lets see if your not looking for insane speed but an honest good dependable motor I would go with the sv motor,It has loads of torque.But I really dont know about the ESC I have never fooled with one of those

maybe a 10 or 11 xl on 14 cells might keep the amps down for that 80 amp speed control and put a fan on the controller, just to be safe

BJ26 or SV27 motor would be great.. Lots of torque..

Thanks everyone, I ended up getting a proboat motor from FEChris. Anyone know if this esc can be water cooled with like the SV esc plate?

Well, I'm all ready, just waiting on the motor. And since I was buying stuff for the build, I couldn't help myself and splurged on some lipos
So the specs will be
proboat motor 1500kv
mystery 80 esc with a cooling plate and Pistix
4s1p
.150 flex cable
most like the CF42mm, though I got a 40mm to try first.
Speedmaster stinger
custom rudder


And we got more snow, to make it that much more frustrating.

@ just over 23000 rpm unloaded it will be a nice sport setup. The amps should stay down and your run time should be decent. Pick up a 42 & even 45mm prop for a few more mph.

Cool project.

Its neat to see some of the conversions that can be done. I had done a single brushless conversion to a Traxxas Villian a while back. It runs quite well and can really handle rough water. here are a couple of photos and a vidieo of the finished product. here is the video link http://www.putfile.com/hydronut. Click on "Super Villian" You may have to let it play through once then replay it to eliminate the broken up effect. Hope you enjoy it.

That looks awesome, you make the hatch yourself? Right now I'm just useing a flat piece of plexi to seal it good. I wanted to use the orignal hatch but there just wasn't a way to seal it tight

Yes I made the hatch from some pieces laying around the shop. Like you I didn't think the original sealed well at all. So I closed up the opening and made it much smaller then built a hatch cover to fit within the new opening size. Rather then build it to look like the original pleasure boat style I decided to give it a bit more of an enclosed offshore look. It is now completely watertight.

Kahnen how did you convert your villain to a single drive. Can i see pics if you have any. My friend is think about doing that Thanks in advance.
