Anyone got any Misfits.... I just built this SV from just about all Misfit parts. Been saving stuff ever since I got my first blue SV. There are a few new things but not much.

The Hull had 2 pretty big cracks down the sides and the wood was broken and had 2 turn fins which I do not like, so i set it aside to someday do something with.

The cowl, if you notice didnt have a antena hole? BONUS hehehe

The motor, sounds like a bearing or bushing is bad but it ran so strong on the bench, I set it aside.

The rudder was bent, no biggie I just straghtened it out. So I saved it.

The drive shafts drive dog was stripped, so I saved it and went to a new occura.

The motor coupler was srtipped, drilled it out and put a new bigger set screw.

The shaft bushing was warped and seized in the tube so I got a new tube and hop up bushing from OSE.

The speed control, one of the connectors came loose, just resoldered it.

The radio is missing its antena. Anyone got one to send me?????

All this stuff is things most people would throw away.

The new stuff...... OSE water jacket, 1/8 silicone tubeing, the drive dog, bushing and teflon insert and a X642 prop all from OSE.

I just test ran it with a CF45 prop..... heheh not kidding its one of the fastest ones I have run. Gonna name it Misfit

Had some time today so I grabbed the Misfit. Hehehe she is sweet. Ran her with a few sets of IB3600's, then I had to try out the 5350 Lipo's... hahah with the M445 she is wild.

I know its not a actual build from scratch but its something that is basically bits and pieces of things most would thow away. Anyways Fixed the gouges, just used regular epoxy, hopefully it stays. Got some testor (luna yellow) very close match. The I had to fix some busted up wood and reinstall it. I am still missing some things. I need a ESC and I need the boot for the motor leads where it comes out the radio box and a AQ servo. I got nine million things to do but for some reason I want to do this... Look at my table..WOW not my normal neet and clean self. Back to the boat.

For some of you new SV guys. Most of this work should be done to your boats. Pull everything and realign the shaft, if you want a smoother running boat push the little teflon out and insert one full legnth. Then you should reinstall the hardwere with 100% silicone. Just dabble it behind the piece of hardwere make sure to go around the whole bolt hole, and a dab on the oposite side and tighten it. it serves two purposes, one is to prevent water into the hull, the other it stops the bolts from getting loose. Keep the strut even to slightly positive and the trim tabs slightly positive, tuck the rudder under not all the way but almost, turn fin slightly back. Also enlarge the water pick up hole, dont actually make it bigger just reem it and make sure its open good. Then..... (next post)

Then its time for Zpoxy. Zpoxy all the wood, kinda blob it on places like the two runners that hold the motor, it bonds the wood better to the boat, dab it good where the shaft goes threw the wood up twards the motor IF you perfectly alighned..at this point you should be. IF your sure its alighned blob a little around the rear where it goes threw the hull. While your at it blob the inside corners of the stand. I also paint a inch wide coat of Zpoxy on the insidewall of the boat where the top is seamed to the bottom. Then let her dry over night.

See a good starting point of the rudder and turn fin in the pic.

Fixed the gouges and touched them up.. the testors Luna is pretty close.

Used this busted box, I didnt have a boot anyway. Some guys dont even run a waterproof box. Knock on wood my boats usually dont leak even when flipped so I am thinking she is fine. I had to swipe a ESC and servo from one of my boats. Installed a waterproof antena. Now I just have to do something with a stripped drive dog... fix the pin on the front of the cowl and she is basically done. Hopefully the radio will check out then we see how she runs.

Finished her... Took me a while but it was worth it. Beats life as a planter like her sister.

Now for the fun stuff... Ran really nice. This run is with a set of IB3600 custom built packs and just a CF45 prop I got from OSE. I dont run the CF much any more but this brings me back.. Its a good prop, everyone should have one.

Sorry I wasted some of you more experianced guys time, this boat was done for 11 year old boy who just recently had a real crappy hand delt to him.

She is now in the hands of her new owner. From the sound of the email, I am sure he was excited. The boat pulled together really good. I left 2 little things they need to fix.. I could have fixed both but....they need something to work on anyway. One of the things on the SV that I have found is the coupler and the drive dog. The motor coupler set screw gets locked in and you cant hardly get it loose and it strips, if your lucky it strips in it groove and technically your still pretty good. The drive dog is the same thing a lot of the time you just cant hardly get them out. Good tools or not. The Octura is actually a little worse. The reason is the set screws are way to small. I would enjoy a bigger better set screw, keep it balance but bigger. I cant see performance being jeperdized by kicking butt on the set screw. So those two things I left for them to someday take care of. The drive dog I would do now because if you tighten down on the prop nut your gonna have it slide up on the strut and bind, so replace that. if you intend on running the CF45 prop, go with the drive dog for bigger hubs the smaller hub is good for the metal props.
