I have a cf-40. I was told that the 535 was waaay too small.

It is too small if you are going to use it in a surface piercing setup. But the original hardware is setup for a submerged prop and the 535 is a decent choice for the stock nitro motor. If your running the prop submerged I wouldnt go with a 442 right away. You could be pulling some big amps untill you get the balance right

When I was running a nitro version we would upgrade the motor to a .32 and take off the horizontal wing. Leave the vertical posts. The prop of choice was a V937 and the boat was a screamer. But it was subject to blow overs as the water conditions got bigger. Havent thought about them days for a long time.

I ran it with the 442 today anyway. It was faster. My gps shut off mid-run so no numbers, but it looked like low to mid forties. The motor was cool to the touch. The motor definetly didnt sound like it was reaching its max rpm though. I'm gonna re-test with the cf-40.

Scott, that motor has plenty of power, I think the problem is the prop depth. It's way too deep from the factory. If you are looking for some serious speed you are gonna have to do up another strut so you can adjust it.

I'd rather not mess with the stock hardware. Trying to keep this one simple and Low-cost. Maybe I should just prop down a bit? But the temps with the 442 were cool ton the touch. Hmmmm.....

That came out great, Good work! I think its fast enough to have fun with and isn't work putting more work into it to put an after market strut on it. Thats just my opinion, Fun is the key.
