Ok Ok I striped the boat instead of painting the silver stripes. What is the best way to protect them? I'm mainly concerned about the hatch tape. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...00000091508595

Make sure to do a test strip with clear over the painted colors you used to make sure it is compatible.

Don't get me wrong I clear coat all most every paint job. But I know my paints and what works with what.

If you use acylic or 2pak based paints you shouldnt have any trouble, cellulose or synthetic based will melt the pinstripe.
Clear coat over the top will also help stop them lifting, but before you paint over the pinstripe use a fine scotch cloth and just very lightly rub them to allow a decent key for the clearcoat to adhere to
Hope this helpsLast edited by F1 madness; 06-24-2010, 10:10 AM.http://s577.photobucket.com/albums/s...79/F1%20boats/

I had a nightmare come true on a real car where the clearcoat ate the stripe! What a mess! Definitely check to see if it's compatible with a test strip.
