Thanks for the vids! and thanks for the air dam photos and measurements Doug! I think I can handle making that one! Plus, it won't ruin my prop if it falls off (like my previous air dams)

Here's a vid of the green pickle boat. I was TRYING to flip it for my retrieval system testing! The water was sooo rough, a jet ski had just gone by. I think the wake finally took her out, but man does she turn.....yaws across the water.

Here are a few pics of a hockey tape air dam. I didn't install a permanent dam because it's not allways needed.
The scratch on the bottom is from when I ran over a "10 to 1" in Charleston. LOL A pic of he strut setting also. Notice the wheel.

I'll try to post a pic of a air dam tomorrow. Nothing fancy, just tape.
In windy conditions I'll add some weight (approx 6oz) under the ESC which should be just in front of the motor.

Don't discount a X442!!!!!

Thanks guys I tried a L38/55 the other day didn't like it at all wouldn't turn right and flipped. I like so far X438 X440 grim 40/52X3 next I will try a X446 and X642 also tried a M440 but it was way slower in the turns. I had the cg to far forward will see what happens next week I've got it up to 48 mph so far but like you said it wants to fly at those speeds. Has any one run a deep strut I have it set at 13/16 to bottom of strut with about 2 deg neg

BTW - I finally hit 50mph w/UL-1 motor and controller. The grim 40x57/3 blade adds a good 3-5mph! It cavitates for about 5 feet or so and then catches. Had to sharpen it A LOT to get it to catch though.

Wow. My CG is quite a bit more towards the rear. Maybe that is why it does cartwheels at high speeds!

One thing I've noticed is that the pickle traps a LOT of air. It's fine at lower speeds (under 45mph). As soon as I get it above 45, it wants to fly! The air just can't escape fast enough. Has anyone considered putting tunnel vents? Just small recessed areas on each side of the tunnel to vent some of the air. I might try this with my green boat (she's getting a little rough anyway....time for a new one).
