Sorry to hear your motor went away on you, I have been using the Cheap out runners and they work pretty well it for me is usually a esc that dies I get them for less than $10.00 usd delivered to my house, and the outrunners I use I got a deal on I offered $15.00 on ebay and won for 2 of them, one has a bit of end play but no worries I have a back up for my orange 16" er (40.64 cm) that boat I need to get wet again here real soon. and by the way OR'S are lots of fun just do not run them for more than 5 mins. at a time (they get hot with no air flow)

Not a big loss, well not like cooking a 200A esc on the same day

        I have a 40A now but when that puffs I will drop in a 50 or 60A.

I would like to get 5 mins before something goes wrong. Good point to remenber though.
Peter As the master of small handbuilt cats you are the man to listen to.
If I can get one to run I will keep it under 5 mins. In all fairness I have not got a hull now that will do 5 mins sustained. Must be something to do with my sport/saw setups

I have another OR coming from a vendor on the bay. Should be here next week !

For this smaller Cat I am tempted to lob on a 427 prop as I have some fairly serious rpm to play with. A 430 would be a max size I anticipate for this one.
It is to be a fun-play boat and not for balls out straight runs like all my other hulls.
I have a couple of red plastic octura 431 props that are going to get cut to 30 and 27mm as testers.
If they look promising then I may cut down my existing 432 and then get a new one for the boats that need the 32.

Lots to learn and lots to play with and the best bit is all of the components are very easy on the wallet.

I do not know if I am a master or not but, an x430 is a good size and the boats like to run to the left with a single motor, and they are surprisingly fast. watch my video on my blog of the yellow boat it is runing a sincle with an x430 metal prop

            This Cat is nuts

I repowered it with a 4000kkv 28mm dia OR that I grabed off ebay.
            It is nuts to drive.
It will idle out nicely and the with a steady trigger finger will lay on its right side until it suddenly pops on the plane. I learnt very quickly that if I pin it from a standstill I get to see the bottom of it fast.

Once on the plane it was nice at about 3/4 throttle but would very easily fall back to the right side down attitude and be a handfull to drive.

            Time for full power !!
            #$@%&% That is nuts !!
I have a 540S powered rigger that would just out run this. I had just run that rigger.
I know that a small hull will "look fast" as I have seen on the tube many a time.

            This thing hauls.

I started with a Red 431 plastic cut to 29mm and that was fun but my best run of the day was with full Red plastic 431. Gawd knows what it will do with a real prop.

It runs well on the rear and near prop rides. As the whole setup was a good guess I have not got it all written down but I'll measure it all out and cast that in stone.

I love these small cats, and am very quickly falling out of love with my bigger XL powered setups.

I managed to get another few runs in this morning before the sailboats take over the pond.
I have al the same srtut and AoA settigs and this cat is nuts fast.
The big change was to go with a 427 prop.
That spins up well, it sounds and looks quicker than the 431(p) that was on there last time.
It now rides on the prop and the last few mm of the flat ride pads and to me is close to perfect. Even into a gentle breeze it was stable and did not blow off, yes I know that the common convention now is to adjust until it blows off and then "back a bit" . I do not want to do that yet !!

The bigger brother of this cat was not so good. See the 18" thread.
