Well,....I guess my fiago 540 xl doesn't like 6s. I thought I had the temps under control going down to a 42mm prop, but I totally cooked the motor. It was 270 deg! And smelled bad...

Until I get some video (can't figure out how to get the vid off me cell phone...) can anyone tell by looking at my build if it looks like it could be "running wet"? I did a few searches and am still not sure what running wet means? Just trying to figure out my heat issue.

Monohulls (such as deep vee boats) should balance between about 27% and 30% of their length from the transom - so a 45 inch boat should balance between about 12 and 13.5 inches from its transom (the back of the hull). If there's too much weight toward the front of the boat, it will run "wet" or bow heavy with too much hull in the water. It could be hard to steer and will not perform to its speed potential.

Oh really? Ok, that makes sense now. Ya mine isn't running wet then. Well maybe it was just a bum motor. We'll see how the ammo 36-88 1280kv runs once I get it. I'll make sure not to run more than 30 seconds to a minute at a time without checking the temps. Thanks for the explaination!Originally posted by driftah View PostMonohulls (such as deep vee boats) should balance between about 27% and 30% of their length from the transom - so a 45 inch boat should balance between about 12 and 13.5 inches from its transom (the back of the hull). Got the ammo installed with dual water jackets. We'll see how this motor works. Hopefully today....

Well I must say that if you cooked two motors so quick you need to check your driveline and or setup cause something ain't right. Bummer was hoping you got it sorted out. She's a really nice looking boat.If all of your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be destroyed!

Thanks, ya, IDK WTF is going on. I ran 30 seconds, checked the temps, can was 110 rear of the motor near the bearing was 140. ran another 30 seconds and the can was 120 and the end was 145. So I ran 3/4 throttle for 2 mins and....dead in the water. no idea on temps since I had to wait for it to drift in. Video is uploading now. All this on a dumb little 40mm prop! performance was crap also with the 40mm. The 42mm was much better. I'll go check the vids.Originally posted by BakedMopar View PostWell I must say that if you cooked two motors so quick you need to check your driveline and or setup cause something ain't right.
