This Cat Is A Pond Bully!!!

    Hi Guys,
A few years back I fell in love with the most devilish and wicked looking cat I had ever seen, it was a Team Lindenau Smith's Cat. I had no clue as to if they stopped making boats or what, but I had no luck getting intouch with them. So I gave up the on of getting one but still kept my pictures of the Cat in my folder marked "Dreamboats". Looking at random videos from YouTube and Google I found videos of Mudl and Jay Turner. I had no clue where Mudl was from but from the speech in the video I knew he wasn't from the the USA, But I kept wondering where do I remember the name Jay Turner??? It can't be the guy who writes in the Mags that I read???? ....... It was...... So to make a even longer story short I asked to buy his and he let me down easy saying "NO", he had a record he was shooting for ( and he got it! ) so some years have now since past and I thought to ask him once again and to my suprise he said yes... ...
He told me long ago what motor and prop he was using and believe it or not a Nue 1515/1D and a CMD modded X642 prop has been sitting on my boat shelf for years.
Well from then to now LiPo Power is the way to go and thinking with that in mind I wouldn't dare stick in 4s to replace the 12 4200's that he ran back then on a 4100kv comp motor and the X642 prop would choke and smoke my LV 240 Hydra!!! I settled on using a X440 to lower the amps and 3's to make it last. The problem with that is no one seems to want to make me a 3s split pack (hump pack) and 2-3's packs weigh as much as the boat itself!!
The Boat ready to run without cells weigh in at 3lbs 12 oz.
    2 3s 6500 Hyperion packs alone weigh in at 2lbs 6.5oz.

My question is what to do about the power? Do I use the 2 - 2s packs and turn the throttle down or stick the 2 3s bricks in and be super happy with 13000 mAh??? I also think that by making the boat heavier will shoot the amperage right back UP! or do you guys know of anyone that sells a quality 1s and 2s packs?
My local hobby shop is having no luck but told me to stay far away from voltage regulators because the hi amps will toast them quicker than a flame thrower!!

Why not run two 3s packs in parallel? Smaller packs like2500-3000mah.

        That's what I was thinking...

        Smaller 3s packs.

Or regular 2s packs to replace the 4200s. Less weight will make the hull not draw as many amps. 2 2s packs in series.

But I need to see pics for a full suggestion.............

Now before the lil monster hits the water the deans are comming off and 6.5mm CC bullets are going on, the esc is hard wired to the motor and the 2-2s TP 5000's are cut into the foams.

Thanks, it is used but I'm very greatful to have it! And to make a good thing better it was already setup to run, I changed the motormount and added water cooling. If it hits 65mph consistantly with my downgrades I will be happy as a............ well you get the picture.

well, I ran the boat on 2s today. Motor was supercool the esc was ice cold but my cell was a bit warm. I gave up on sticking the gps in everything that hits the pond long ago, so call me crazy but I tell ya the boat looked to be running about 35 to 40 mph ON 2 CELLS!!!!

The power of the Saw Cat was just too nerve wrecking for me with the fear of blowing something up, So I took a good look at the boat and made some changes.
First up was the drive system had to go to make room for a OSE inline system.
Next was the 1515/1D and Hydra 240 LV was replaced with a BlackJack 26 System.
And finally the B and S X440 was replaced with a Grim Racer whatever 3 blade.
I sat her in the pond today and ran it for about 8 minutes back and forth a ba-jillion times and had a blast with it. It is not as fast as I wanted it to be but it runs great and when it's comming toward you, you can actually see the way the twin sponsons really work to catch the air!!! WAY TOO COOL!!!

I'm glad you're enjoying it Ken! It gave me a lot of enjoyment too, but I had stopped running it and it was just sitting around collecting dust. Far better for a fellow FE boater to keep it on the water. I bet it runs great with the BJ system. BTW that motor likes a big prop...

                        This thing is INSANE!!!
After playing around with the BJ BS in the Smith's Cat I tossed in a 8XL on 4s with a 442 prop and let the madness begin!!! It refuses to turn worth a crap at anything over about 15 to 20 mph but does track a arrow line like it's on a string! I'm starting to think I'll put the JT record setup back in just to get that Sonic Boom on my pond!!!

.... and to JT, any boat thats upsidedown and sealed up well with good hatch tape loves a big prop... LOL knowing that a prop atleast 40mm prop will make enough thrust to bring it in quick I stop taking a rescue boat out with me

Ballraced strut? If not, poor bearings!

non of the above, my steering linkage has a bend in it to make it work and if you go too fast it just won't turn.
