    H&M No Step 2 s 14

Hi everyone, I have ordered H&M No Step 2 s14 mono hull.
Dia 25-5" x 8-25", light weight fiberglass and gel coat Hull. I want to get ideas on setting it up for oval racing, but restricted to 7.4 v (,2s) lipo battery, I want input on motor size, hardware, etc. I have a ETTi marine water cooled 90amp esc, also a turnigy water cooled 120amp esc. I want to know wheather to use a strut or stinger? Also I need it to be fast.
So all you over sea's boaties I need you all to rack your brains , so I can give my Aussie mates a race and a half.
    Cheers To All

Bump. Just bought one off of the Swap Shop. Looking for a good suggested motor for this boat running 4s. I have a 10xl that might work just for sport boat usage, but any input is welcomed on the motor...

SV, UL-1, or Proboat setups would be great.

          Is there much difference between:
          1. Feigao 540 10XL 1,734 RPM / Volt (0
          2. AquaCraft Brushless B36 Motor 1800kv
The numbers say they are close, but is there some other factor that I am not aware of that makes one better than the other?

if you want to run 2S you will need a much higher KV motor, i.e a 2000KV motor is just good for 4S so a 1700KV motor will definitely not spin fast enough under 2S!!!
go for at least a 4000-5000KV motor, a 540 06L Feigao should do it
IMO the main concern is that to go fast you'll need a lot of amps, way abov what your ESC and the motor can handle!

Both ideas are welcome. I could just decide to run it 2s2p instead of 4s1p.

Higher voltage is the way to go!!! at same power 4S means twice as less amp than under 2S... so smaller ESC, smaller batt...
a 1800KV motor won't be enough for a 25" hull, you will need at least a 2000-2200KV one, I have a 8XL on my 29" DF copy and spin a 42mm prop (43.5mm is the very max), if you go for a lower KV motor you will need a much bigger prop and even so it won't go fast, using a bigger prop will be a serious issue due to the prop torque, check this thread to find out what's best http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ead.php?t=4159
and a XL type will be quite heavy but for sure will be a blast, this has been done by others! a L type would be reasonnably fast!

I'm building out a syncron hull right now which I think is pretty similar to your H&M No2. Steven also has (or had) a syncron and recommended for me a 540 8XL, and a 240amp ESC for 2S1P setup.

Chief, are you saying you're going to fit the 8XL in the Synchron and run it under 2S???
                        it won't go fast! never!

I think Chief meant 4s. I am going to try it out this weeknd with a 10xl I have laying around for fun. I probably will see if I can trade the 10xl for a 9xl or 8xl in the swap shop.

Whoops, that was a typo! Should be 4S

ok Chief much better then! BTW the Synchron is 28,5" long if I'm correct 8XL/4S is a perfect setup
Electric, if you can, go for the 8XL, IMO even the 9XL will require a too big of a prop for this size of hull because of its lower KV
