I run a few small motors, all 540S size, and have had them over 40 krpm many times. They get warm but not hot if loaded correctly.
I know that a 540S is similar to a 380XL for power specs but have never run a 380

For small cans: I do not reccomend it but they can take it up to 50 krpm. That is SAW time. Strictly a 2 pass boat.

        Thanks Simon,

Well I just plugged my 4S packs in and it only went up to 3724rpm..????
If I can get this cracked, I know I will be happy to run on 3S but the thought of doing some saws... :-)

I must have done something wrong with the ESC's????????
I feel like I'm against a wall with this.......

Matt, you know that I have not been to the Hakanoa SAWs.
I was merely pointing out that going over 40krpm is getting up there and 50krpm is deffo a SAW setup. I have done a few destructive runs in this ballpark to prove it......to me at least.

I just don't want people to see that high 40krpm is "normal"

              Back to the current program.

So, I have built my twin 380L HOR 32 and Oh My Word! It is so slow!
I just got a prop speed reading and it's like 1/10th of what it shoud be...
So, I looked at the Instructions for programming the ESC's and guess what... I have the 70A version and it starts at 4s! and I was running it on 3S's.... How dumb do I feel???
                    So, my question is this....

I was really curious about this in your other post with Tiqueman. So, you were running the boat in the Low Voltage Cutoff the whole time? I didn't think it sounded like it was turning many RPM from your video. Remember the Kv is unloaded that you are figuring, once she's in the water loaded it will be less. Until it comes out of the water.

Ok, I've been away on holiday for the past week but this is where I'm at now...
I set the boat onto the bech and wired it up to my adjustable power supply, gave it 14.8V and it ran upto 41k rpm..... What I am thinking now is, Can I run a 380l on 4S???
I don't have two 4S packs so I'll need to get some in....

Does anybody use an Anderson Hobby Smart Tachometer?
The box tells me it will read upto 99,9999rpm but when I show it my HOR it reads 3990 and that boat flies but my twin is still very slow....????? Should I be multiplying by 10?? 39900rpm????

Hi guys, Not been on much as we have had a spate of people passing on :-(
So anyway, I did get to the lake today just to try it after having raised the stingers. Better, but still not great, I'm guessing it's like 20mph at a push but it does now get on plane....
Sounds like the motors are maxed out too, I don't think it's cavitating and I'm sure the props should work...???
I'll try to get my son to take a video of it.....

                          Ok, so here's the video....

I would check for drives spinning like drive dogs or couplers not locking down.

Everything is solid and tight. I did talk to Steve at PropShop and he is sending me some new prop's out.... Also moved my COG back 1/4". Running it tonight after work.....
