41" falcon cat build

I have been trying to decide cog and how far i want to set the motor back..also an s bend or j bend in the stuff tube......I think I will go with s bend..also deciding weather or not to CF the floor..another decision is to put in a forward bulkhead or not...i think someone told me the hull may twist with this much torque without a bulkhead...will mount the strut and rudder and go from there

If it was me i wouldnt reinforce.asuming you are mounting the motor mount to the rails.
Got to remember we have a 5+hp gas motor only mounted to the rails and no cracking,movement under load.
I'll measure cog on ours a bit later for you,same hull,same cofg.
You will be ok to adjust when built easy by moving the lipos back or forth.
Personally i would mount the motor as far forward as possible,therefore enabling a straight tube through the bottom of the hull and then a bend under the hull.Just like the gas versions.
I wouldnt bother with a bukhead either,more weight,

Yours looks a downsight cleaner than ours,its gets oil and crap inside after a good few tanks.
We are still experimenting with props,but the bad weather is against us at the mo'.

my gas version is set at 13" from transom.
Runs well.

of the b/s props i have in prather I have 215, 230, 235, 240.245

start with 230 and move up from there....i am going to use the maytech 200amp HV 10s esc with fans on both the motor and esc

i think it will take the 245 but we will see

I was just reading through this build while between coats of paint on my cat. I dont know why it popped into my head, but i really think that an outboard on a cat would make one totally awesome setup. Especially a great looking outrunner!

Your hull looks very similar to the 41" Chinese cats from Promise. Thats where I thought you got it from.

I'm going all orange. I have 2-DF orange monos, 26" & 33" and my Whip is going to be orange too. I think I'll paint my Lifter Orange or in the Elam paint sceme.

I love my big 41 inch cat, I will enjoy watching your build. Who made the motor mount?

Looks home made from some 1/4" thick wall box Aluminum. I like the water cooling face.

I'll make my own motor mount for the 29" one using similar materials from Metal Supermarkets.
It takes little effort to make nice mounts like that. Some elbow grease, hack saw, drills and files.

OK big update here this boat just got bought by my son in law and I get to help him build it which is great since I had to sell it now I get to help design and help with the build and watch it run,,,,but some big changes Have been made.....my son in law (Eric) is kind of nuts...no other way to put it...everything he does had to run on its limits so I just ordered another 4035 800kv outrunner and two swordfish 240 HV esc's...two speedmaster stingers and going to run twins in this boat....just ordered the 8 6s turnigy's so the boat will run on 12s for each motor


I need some help on what left and right prop to start with...andy brown from cmdi has a matched set of x450/3 I could start with...any suggestions here?...flex shafts are .187 with 3/16" prop shafts l&r naturally

this build will move much faster now
the goal is 100mph

Nice !! My thought were twins also, Im threw with singles, I burn up too much $$$$ , you are way less likely to burn stuff up if you take a hot setup in a single prop boat and double it you will have about 50% less amp draw on you systems. Just my thought on the front of this hull looks like it could generate some serious up lift, might blow over on you before u hit 100mph, looks like it will run nice and light though...
Hope the Sprint cat worked out ! I just ordered a Aeromarine 42'' Conquest cat.
Ordered it with no bulk head or strakes, with carbon fiber. I m going to put 4 Turnigy 180 amp esc's, 4= 540xl 9t, 4=447x left n rights. Should be good for 720 amps continuous, 1440 amp quick bursts, I will run it on 4 to 6s , I will try 4s first.
