Hi,
Was looking at buying a tug, And may be modding it some time down the line to brushless.
I saw this one and was curious about it.

I don't have either one but there is an Atlantic tug at our club. Looks good on the water, except for one thing. It's too shiny for a work boat. Needs a coat of matt clear to make it look 'real'.
But with a few ropes, chains, drums & crew added on the decks, it looks good.
In my opinion, the first one you posted at 23" long, is too small. The smallish tugs I've seen tend to bob around on the water like a cork. Perhaps that's just me.
I've been wanting a tug lately too & have been considering this one, but I've no idea what the quality is like. All my scale boats have been scratch built but I'm getting lazy & thought I'd do a tug the easy way. Maybe it's another one for you to consider. Free shipping too.

I have the south Hampton, and agree its cheep plastic and pretty small. And underpowered. (at least for my use). It is like $200 and in my opinion it should be around $80. I would consider selling you mine, I would have to put it back together in 100 percent running order. I took it apart with the intentions to upgrade the running system but instead decided to build a springer tug. If you are interested in springer tugs there are many ideas and simple to build. How big is that springer tug that you are building ?

I just bought the Atlantic tug. Its a good first boat and have loads of potential for scale upgrade. Took it to the pond last week end and is sure a crowd puller : )

I'm building a Vac-U-Tow rescue boat now, I had a Vac-U-Tug and it worked great. They are vacu molded kits and pretty reasonable with everything he includes in the kit.
This one I'm doing up a bit fancier with lights, and a bilge pump that squirts water. The kids think it's pretty cool and it's slow enough they can have a try.
Not finished yet but here's what I have so far.
