I just read that article. It states that the internet rumors are not true. So I don't see the connection. This is the only part I thought was relevant:

To me this was the most important line:

As far as the Complete Lives thing goes, it is abundantly clear to anyone who is not looking to stretch reality to the breaking point in order to fan the flames of fear that this is an abstract ethical discussion that is not part of the foundation for the current health care reform proposals.

People who are either afraid or who want to spread this fear clearly do not understand that these questions are asked ALL THE TIME. If they would actually read the article instead of simply linking to what other people say about it then this would be very obvious.

What bothers me most in these discussions is how much time and effort must be used to correct the misunderstandings and out right lies used to oppose the proposed plan. It truly is the GOP at their finest. Using ignorance and fear to build a case for their opposition.

Just like Arlen Specter, normal "TAX Paying" citizens don't have the time to read the 1000 plus pages. So when they ask government officials questions and the officials didn't have enough time to read the bill themselves, it worries quite a few of us.

Some of these "fears", are not fears at all... they are logical conclusions based on stated policies, and what is actually written, combined with the backgroud of those involved with pushing the legislation... I'm getting a little tired of our politicians saying things, then having their constituants (perhaps those wearing "yellow" that particular day... ) go to great lengths to explain all the statements away...

If it was just Rush or Hannity saying this stuff, then there may be some question about it... but much of this is coming DIRECTLY from the Senators, Congressman, and the President himself...

Understandably so. Maybe the length of the bill is the problem. Because alot of people don't have the time on inclination to read it. This allows some to misinterpret or deceive others on its content.

If you scroll back a few years you'll see I was against most of the Patriot Act the first time, too. It infringes on too many civil liberties. The one good thing it did is that it created more Libertarians.

Dr. Emmanuel’s paper deals with a very specialized area of medical ethics, how to ethically allocate scarce resources in times of extreme need, like during a pandemic, etc.

He obviously understands the "don't let a crisis go to waste" mentality.

I said it before and I'll say it again, the past is the past. I do see a problem with you needing to defend your current position with an argument about another entirely different issue.

But to answer your question, no I didn't question it. I'm an honest person who doesn't give a crap if you check my emails or phone calls...

Again Obama has stated things himself that have worried the masses. So what are we to believe?
