How easily you forget that G.W. gave away the first $700 billion to the corporates without one single string attached!
....those who earn it....! What a stupid statement. The average American couldn't EARN it under Bush. Wages lost ground. If you weren't one of his rich buddies, you just had to suck wind. Amazing how delusional some people can be still supporting the totally failed presidency of Bush.
Just wait til 2010. The Republicans will lose even more seats in congress. The average American has had their fill of what they did to destroy our economy, reputation, etc. Last time I looked, only 23% of Americans still profess to be Republicans.
The Republican Party is a dying breed. Their hypocritical ideology, their pimping of the fundamentalist and Evangelical Christians are coming to light, they have about a generation left before the younger generation run them off the continent. As for the Democratic Party, I guess their pimpology is poor people. Change is the only constant whether or not if its in your favor. America will wake up when they realize you can't elect people to control your destiny, that's your responsibility; kinda living life the lazy way.
Term limits is the Achilles heels to any out of control government in addition to implementing a Volunteer Senate and Congress... Imagine training a lion to guard your live stock and you wonder why your animals come up missing. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. We the people, there are no WE the People anymore. Until we find ourselves on the precipice of total economical failure, then and only then will we start to look at our neighbors ( Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, etc) and realize we are a monolithic people, irregardless of socioeconomic status.
What affects one, affects all. But we have not reach that point yet in our-selfish existence to acknowledge that. As a nation we are reaching a point where the pass that was giving to us by our forefather is wearing thin. As a whole we have not rejuvenated the struggle to keep Freedom Alive. We act like children who have been handed everything and knows not what it takes to keep; easy come easy go, and so our destiny unfurls.

How easy you forget that Bush didn't have on his "crown" and just decide on his own ruling to hand out 700b! Also dont forget that it was the Obama administration that wanted the Bush administration to dump all the funds into circulation before they took over.
One question, where will all the money come from to pay for all these government funded projects? It will be on the back of most of us that frequent this forum. Its not that complicated. The USA as a business has failed. Gold isn't $900 by accident. China has recently heavily invested in the shinny stuff. They are a bit worried about our dollar.
By the way I'm 39 years old and a republican, not a youngster, but far from a dead republican, I also live in a town where a democrat hasn't won a school mock election for as long as I can remember. So there are a few of us around still, with more being groomed on a daily basis.
They Put Madoff in Jail, But he was just a fall guy... Who really is in possession of that 65 billion.

Come on! You are smarter than that. How do you think that he kept all these people on the hook for so many years? He WAS paying out high highest rates. All a paper shuffle.
Time for the losers to get some attorneys to start chasing the people that made money. The interest gained by these people is all part of a illegal deal, therefor not theirs.

Steve Both parties are dying, there is a no way there are only 2 ideologies in this country. The Bloods and The Crips , The Genovese's and Gambino's. Sounds like a lot political suppression to me. But you all will see, I will continue to say it, the Titanic has disembarked from it's mooring of freedom, and is navigating the seas of peril and we are all complicit in it's demise.
Nevertheless, my discussion in any part about, the Dems or Repubs are quite trivial at best, my real focus is making people understand; as long as the heart, thinks it's not part of the body we are in trouble, as long as the lungs thinks it's not a part of the body we are in trouble and so forth and so on. Individualism and not Separation. Anything else at this junction, will be fatal and is proving to be fatal.

If Madoff, have 500 Million in assets of that 65 Billion he stuck it rich, But he didn't have close to that. He took one for the team and is doing time in a minimal security prison, with conjugal visits from his wife on weekends.

I definitely agree with you there. There are too many hyphenated Americans. My mother grew up in Germany, not coming to America until a teen. She's NOT a "German-American" though (nor am I) - she's "American" plain and simple. That doesn't mean she doesn't love her birthland, though. She was in tears of joy when the wall came down (she had relatives on the other side).
That said, we grew up with all the good German traditions - Nickolaus, Fastnachts, and all - but they were part of our history. They aren't what we're trying to return to. I learned a little German by listening to my mother and her sisters and mother talk about what we got for Christmas. She never set out to teach it to us. In fact, my oldest sister knows Dutch (her husband immigrated from Holland) better than German, and I know Spanish better than German.
What we all need to do is get rid of the hyphens, and adopt AMERICAN culture as our own. Forget kwaana, stop using your native tongue as the primary language for your kids, teach them the Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, etc. and about the history of the country you live in. Not the one you came from. Teach it, but in perspective - "We're Americans now."
I have several friends who did this. Yakubu (from Jamaica), Gregory (from Russia), and Edgardo (from Spain) are successfully integrating themselves into America. None of them is hyphenated. It's time the rest of the immigrants (btw, they are all here legally w/o any amnestry programs) start to do the same and forget "<insert your favorite homeland> Pride Day" celebrations.
Celebrate America.

Afterthought - if you find a political party specializing in catering to hyphenated Americans, boycott them!
The USA OWES a ton of cash to China and others and just trying to come up with funds to pay off your defecit is not manageable. It took Britain 60 years to pay off its second world war debt. Dark days ahead.
Edit... your goverment has no money and believe me on that one. California you are to blame for silly tax reforms. We all have to pay the piper. Also I am very proud of the country I was born in. I made a move to experince the world and I am glad I did, but I enjoy my past culture, you will never take that away from me, but I do like to see the global world and enjoy travelling to other parts of the world. Please note that our child is a Canadian citizen and very proud of his heritage...French ..landed in Canada 1690...me 1969. He is a Canadian and very proud of it.

I agree 110% This is a really thorn in my side!
One of my employees from Columbia, used to always say, "My Country" referring to Columbia. I would constanly say, the USA is now your country. Be proud.
I totally agree Andy! It drives me mad that people want to come here and refuse to speak our language! I moved to Germany in the 70's. The first day after I arrived I enrolled in a German language class! I did it out of respect for the people of the country I was going to be living in for 5 years. Most of the arrogant americans living there never bothered to learn German. That ticked me off royally. It's not just foreigners coming here. Americans are just as guilty when they go to another country. I go to China on business only once or twice a year yet I have learned a bit of Chinese, again, out of respect.
As for the hyphenation, I detest that too. If you really want "african", or any other country in describing your heritage in front of "american", then go live in that country. Assimilate into our society or be gone! Those that don't want to get on the same page regarding allegiance to the United States and not some other country have no right to demand anything from our government in my opinion. I also believe I am a citizen of the planet, appreciating other cultures, etc. We are not the only people in the world with good ideas, etc.

Wow...!! See, we CAN agree on something then! Maybe there is "Hope"...

I agree with you guys here. However, I don't think alot of people go by the hyphens. Our government often puts these labels on people. Many people will refer to themselves as U.S. Citizens or Americans.
Government Moto:
"Why fix it? Blame someone else for breaking it."
Forgot to mention, The media does this as well. BIG TIME!!!
The Media is the forth branch of the Government.
