Andy, that is why I balance and sharpen my props, it will take me on average about 30 to 60 minutes. I admire people who have the savvy to go beyond the basic prop preperation and yes that includes you.Originally posted by andym View PostSo just what is allowed ??? By the sounds of it NOTHING.
On the topic of props I obtained a Prop Shop 7016/2 for my mono. Now the retailer told me thet came sharpened and balanced. What a load of BULL*!***!***!***!**E !!! It was as unbalanced as any blank I have ever seen and so BLUNT it would not slice soft butter !!!! When I spoke to the retailer he told me that they are good enough for sport boaters !!! but maybe not racers !!!! I told him that a prop like this has NO place on any boat no matter what the intended use. It was polished nicely but took as much work as any blank to get right. Now it is razor sharp and balanced with a little tip cup and some back cut it looks great and runs alright to.

Thanks mate, the thing is this mob sell all sizes of props all over the world and charge top dollar for there product, I like the material it is made of, holds a great edge and resists burs, good blade shape and likes modification. The problem is just how many boaters rip open the packet slap it on their boat and run them, in the process reducing the life of components and loosing speed due to the false believe these are balanced, as for the sharpened bit that is as big a lie as the rest.

I could not agree more on the balance/sharpen topic and I know it sounds a bit nanny like but I follow that mantra right through the whole drive train and I am a sport boater.

Yep and any one with half an idea will do the same. This guy seemed to think that "sport boaters" where some how inferior to racers. I know that although all my boating friends are sport boaters they have some top class boats and our unsanctioned race's are as hotly contested as any.

he would turn up with the biggest looking piece of crap his radio was about 15-20 year old am 2 channel stick job, but he would flog everyone.
people do have they impression that because people race they know more than others, problem i see with racing is there is usally 1 fast guy and everyone copies his boat, car or what ever, they dont really learn as there to busy copying

I have said on several posts that if you do what the other guy is doing then you are going to be doing what the other guy is doing. To beat the other guy you have to do it better or do it different.
The above works with women too.Several boats in various stages of destruction

For once we are all in agreement. I love Scott's basher story and yes racing is all about how you setup your boat/car/motorcycle/pogo stick etc. for the race conditions. When it rains etc. it is the equaliser and a great setup will tank the opposition and remember you have to finish in order to win and yes sport boaters also race but will not be as fast.
When I watch motor sports I love following the duels between the not as fast lads as much as the front four.

I see you are looking for good guitarists Douggie.
I did not put my relative on your thread because you would make fun of him.
Here he is playing an old 1934 Gibson Kalamazoo .
