Here is the problem with guns and crime. Gun sales have been completly out of controll for ever. They where too easy to get and sell. I have been a gun carrier for 23 years. I love to compete and target shoot. The people i have met are always profesionals in the sport of guns. But back in the day i could buy anything and i mean anything and resell it in the clasifieds to anyone that did not have a valid permit. It made no sense at all. If every single gun was accounted for and registerd from day one and could not be resold unless completly documented there would be ALOT less killings. If a gun you owned was used in a crime and it was not documented from you as the last owner than you should be acountable for the crime as well. If every crime committed that had no death to anyone was dealt a manditory life in prison there would be alot less crime. If you kill some one and your instantly put to death .......there would be alot less murders. Hell today your on death row for 10 years before your executed. Kill a cop and your the baddest guy in jail. This whole thing is like the national debt. It just kept rolling along and no one could stop it. People just get used to it and keep going on saying "well theres nothing i can do"....and there wright ..its to far gone.
Too many Guns

The real issue now is that the Genie is out of the bottle. The only way to control guns would be to somehow vacuum up every last one of them and then destroy the means and methods for making them. World wide.
Not very practical sounding is it?
So where does that leave us?? I'm not sure. It seems like we need to do something because the violence is out of hand. But just look at the latest wave of killings. Most were done by people in legal possession of the guns. So controlling access does not seem to be the solution.
All I know for sure is it is not getting better, so whatever we do it has to be different than what we are doing now, because that is a clear failure.Don't get me started

Well Bill I agree with you! There is one other solution to this problem, well it also will sove all the other problems in the world: Make it illeagal to procreate or have everyone sterilized at birth world wide and in 110 + years there will be no kids who can be killed, molested, neglected, abused, hit by drunk drivers, hooked onto drugs, comitt suicide are become criminals. there would be no more murders, rape, investment scams, environmental or ecological man made disaters, in fact all human caused problems would go away, but again it would be impractical too.
Well one could also hope that everyone would develop a high moral value system and live it but then that is impractical too....
I can't control anyone else in the world all I can control is myself so to do my part to better the world all I can do is make good choices for my self and set a good example that hopefully others will will want to follow."Discussion is an exchange of knowledge; an argument, an exchange of ignorance." Put the # down for the people killed that are innocent and not a part of the crime or gang killings and put that against 300 million population and see what your total % is. Sure....one innocent life is bad enough but look at the real numbers....the governement does.
Not to minimize it but since most of these people look at numbers this may be one of the problems...not enough to warrant taking guns from the good and innocent that use their guns for what they were intended. That is like taking prescription drugs away because some abuse them yet it saves millions of lives of those that need them.
People still use guns to put food on the table...may be hard for some of you to understand until you live where it does make a differnce....why do you thiink so many people are angry at the Conservation departments? I know many towns that would stand together and fight if they had to turn in their guns...just a common way of life.
I could see guns being registered and old guns have new serial numbers scribed in...I would do that. I have guns that are 100 years old and there is no trace of them....criminals love to find and steal these. They are worth more than a new gun.
And, by the way....check the specs on how heathy game animals are compared to your mexican/canada beef. Wild game is where it is for healthy eating and long life...God made it that way for a reason. Buffalo is probably the best meat you can find.
So until you walk in others shoes or on water...touting removal of all guns by a few bad people will not fix this problem....the % of bad does not support the fix of removing guns.

Sorry Jeff, but it is absurd to defend firearms based on the "food on the table argument". I'd venture that more people get food by dumpster diving in the US than do by hunting it down like a true outdoorsman. Like you said, look at the numbers. How many people go to Safeway versus going deep into the woods tracking game, shooting it, dressing it, and hauling it home for the family?? Probably not enough to form a sensible defense of firearm ownership.Don't get me started

Lets really face it people...mankind is a design screwup....right from the very first cave man who picked up a rock or a stick of wood to crack someone in the head to take something away from him that he wanted.
its just an evolution of weapons (fists. rocks, sticks, knives, spears, single shot flint, handgun, semi auto, full auto, bombs, bigger bombs, atomic, neuclear) you get the point
its human nature to take something away from another ...put two baby's in a room with one ball and eventually the baby without the ball will try to take the ball away from the baby who has it
sad but true its a design flawSPRINT CAT 40.........BOOGIMAN 25" MONO 8xl

Still.....Do the math...does it really count? Let's take cars off the road because they kill 100,000 people per year...oh...innocent people as well.
I am not selling the hunting issue to keep guns. Even though that is what the NRA and many other pro-gun folks are selling. Plus right to defend.
If you had a gun and someone came up to you with a gun...would you choose not to use it to defend yourself or would you simply take one in the head and figure it is the way the Good Lord wanted you to go?
This thread is nothing more than personal ranting but goes no where or does nothing.
My 14 yr and 9 yr old are headed to the indoor range this afternoon to pull off a couple 100 rounds. It is what they want to do on their day off.
At least the bad guys won't be running away without a blood trail if I am there...and doubt they will ever make it to court for there 20 yr sentence for killing my child or anyone else....I will take my chance in court....and I will win.

LOL....Jeff you hunting issue is a very good point (why?) because when the crap hits the fan and there's no more fuel at the pumps and no more grocery stores a gun will be very handy in capturing food...let Bill and the rest of his followers use a stick and a box to catch some squirrels.....lol
but very very true
Bill I'm just jesting here but what I say is very possible...it wont take very much for the world to go into chaos.....one good terrorist attack on top of our present state of affairs......if computers go down with communication we are done...no more trucking (fuel and food) NOTHING...WE WILL BE DIGGING UP WORMS TO SURVIVE
or me and Jeff will be shooting some nice game...lolSPRINT CAT 40.........BOOGIMAN 25" MONO 8xl

Electronic attack could be the end all for a short time.
People called them cellars back then...now they may be survival homes from radiation and preserving life and food. People already have them...call them nuts and pray we never need them!
Friggin N. Korea is messing with dangerous things right now! And they are run by a nutty little farker...but he does love our movies so maybe we can just entertain him so he never pushes a button!! Maybe he will come up missing soon.
What gets me is the tanker hostage issues. Put guns on those tankers worth billions in oil ! 50 mm to start with... Cut those farkers in half at a 1/2 mile out.

It's not him pressing the button that we need to woory about. The problem will be when he sells the missle technology to that clown in Iran, the Hitler of our time.Originally posted by Jeff Wohlt View PostFriggin N. Does anybody know why the US Navy was founded nearly 200 years ago?Originally posted by Jeff Wohlt View PostWhat gets me is the tanker hostage issues. Put guns on those tankers worth billions in oil ! 50 mm to start with... Cut those farkers in half at a 1/2 mile out.
That's right, boys and girls; It was to get rid of the Barbery (Muslim) Pirates. And that they did. The US Navy blasted them out of the water. Piracy is an act of war. It is defined as an act of war against humanity.
Now, these limp-wristed panty-waists in our government want to negeotiate? Call them criminals? They are not criminals, they are the ENEMY. Criminals get trials. The enemy gets killed.A nation of sheep breeds a government of wolves

Are you a Democrat, a Republican, or a Redneck?
Here is a little test that will help you decide.
The answer can be found by posing the following question:
#You're walking down a
deserted street with your wife
and two small children.
Suddenly, an Islamic
Terrorist with a huge knife
comes around the corner,
locks eyes with you,
screams obscenities, praises
Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you.
You are carrying a
Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP, and you are an expert shot.
You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.
What

Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor or oppressed?
Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire
him to attack?
Could we run away?
What does my wife think?
What about the kids?
Could I possibly swing the gun like a club
and knock the knife out of his hand?
What does the law say about
this situation? Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind
of message does this send to society and to my children?
Is it possible he'd be
happy with just killing me?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would
he be content just to wound me?
If I were to grab his knees and hold
on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?
Should I call
9-1-1?
Why is this street so deserted?
We need to raise taxes, have paint and weed day and make this happier, healthier street that
would discourage such behavior.
This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for few days and try to come to a consensus.

Because they are unstable in many forms.
Japan can't either and that was signed in the surrender they did aboard the USS Missouri.
Why does the US...because we believe in peace. As Harry T said...the buck stops here....and he made it obvious that it does. The last great President that took no Sh-t.
