Here is a video and lots of other videos explaining the problems caused by using ethanol gas in small engines. You can still purchase ethanol free gas at some gas stations.

Phase seperation occurs when ethanol combines with water in the gas, forming a soupy goop that sinks to the bottom of the tank. No fuel additive can effectivly reverse phase seperation.

I just read at Wikipedia that Coleman camp fuel cannot be used as a substutue for gasoline. Only 50-55 octane rating...detonation will occur.

More than a few of us use camp fuel it in our gas RC boats. No detonation problems in my Zenoah (I think 8.9:1 compression). Power may be slightly less than pump gas but my boat can run with the pack no problem. The big advantages are unlimited shelf life, doesn't eat carb diaphragms and no smell. I keep my boats in the basement and the wife doesn't complain. I have a friend who is going to get me a couple gallons of 100LL AVGAS. I'm going to give that a shot and/or mix it with the Colemans.Mike Chirillo

More to it than saving a few bucks..Originally posted by detox View PostRegular gas has 40% more octane and is 60% cheaper than Coleman. Regular in the two stroke motor seems like a no brainer to me...IF moister is not allowed to collect.
many reasons in my opionion to run white gas..Originally posted by Nautiboyz View PostMore than a few of us use camp fuel it in our gas RC boats. for me its the smell factor
from my experience though, mixing with other fuels did not work out well for my 5B.NAMBA20...Caterpillar UL-1, P-Spec OM29, P-Mono DF33, P-Spec JAE, Aussie 33" Hydro-LSH, Sprintcat CC2028 on 8s, PT SS45 Q Hydro, PS295 UL-1 power, OSE Brothers Outlaw QMono 4-sale, Rio 51z CC2028 on 8s
