This is a band I saw live many times in the 1970's and my stepson at the tender age of 6 was dancing a jig in the hallway at the concert although he had French herritage....this band has changed over the years and this is the current one.....Battlefield Band!!

Pretty much one hit wonders. They were the main stay at the bowling alley near me in San Diego for years.

Sitting in my car, slumped down behind the wheel, I painfully gazed up at her window. She wasn't home; probably cruising around in HIS car, a white-on-white '59 Caddy 'vert. F'ing rich kid. Across the street the boardwalk was abandoned and the miniature golf course was awash - winters in Long Beach N.Y. took a beating from storms. The surf was massively pissed off and pounded the beach without mercy. I was getting drenched from the storm's rainfall ( forgot to erect the side curtains on my '57 Healey) but I didn't notice or care ; She was GONE. Then that song came on my rarified positive-ground A.M. radio. And imprinted in a manner that will NEVER erase the teenage angst of that bittersweet moment. Music is the glue that keeps our memories in place. "Falling Rain" provides proof of that, at least for me. Thanks for the memory ( I think), Dom.

Addendum : Got her back; married her five years later; fours years after that traded her for a springer spaniel mutt and got the better end of the deal. Word was that she went back & married the Cadillac Kid.

The chapel on seventh, and Highland ave. is named after my dad. He built it in '45, and not long after, I was born, and was raised upstairs. He is still alive, and now lives in Lakeside.
