Hung out with the Vanilla Fudge & Roadied for the Unspoken Word back in the day. Both had B3's & Leslies with the "rotovibe".Originally posted by runzwithsizorz View PostI realize the new modern keyboards are smaller, and are capable of doing all sorts of *things*, and lord knows they are so much easier to transport from gig to gig, BUT, IMHO there's nothin like the sound of a big ole Hammond, and leslie.

Tony, a great song but the times changed for me at least 50 years ago and are in constant flux mode to this day.
Bob in his electric mode.

OK, this is a bit of a stretch, even for folkies, but before the "protest" movement got into full swing, there was Jug Band music. Fritz Richmond, Kweskin's washtub player (on the jug in this tune) inspired my rise (and subsequent alcohol fueled fall) as a washtub-base player leading to two second runners-up in two consecutive World Washtub competitions in Rancho Bernardo CA in the late sixties. And Maria Muldaur, possibly the sexiest woman to ever grace a coffehouse stage - I mean Holy *^#

There's a line in a song by Maria Muldaurs' * Midnight at the oasis*; "and you won't need no camel, honey, oh no, when I take you for a ride".
Now what on earth could she have possibly meant by that?
DON"T ANSWER!!!

Before we move on from big organs, and funk, I'd like to add a couple more; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3MWu6LhWQ8
Just look at those wild teenage hooligans in the audience at 1:35, carrying on like there's no tomorrow, I'm shocked, just shocked I tell you!
Now for some funk; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghj5V...eature=related
