Hi Douggie, I was talking to my brother and it appears that my family the Morrisons/Naylors are from Scotland We have a family bible back to 1440 we were Judges there. I was always told we were Irish, English, Dutch and Welch. My family left this out because of a feud long ago with some one in another clan we had judged.

hmmmmm.....that changed my opinion of Ms Gaga as a singer. I thought she was just another product of "look at me but with no talent" as many of the current crop of Lady/girl "artists" are.

Much of todays music doesn't strike an emotional cord for me. Back in the 50's, 60's, 70's and early 80's individuals and groups performed music with heartfelt messages and things that we could relate to.
Whether you were in love, just got dumped, want to spread peace, a drug induced stupor, or hated war, there was something for everyone. The instruments accompanied the vocals, not the other way around.
Don't get me wrong, there are still some good music releases. Often these don't have a lot of electronic enhancements. But I find that a lot of todays music lacks substance and meaning. Add to that the many engineers who feel they have to
leave their mark by over-engineering a recording. What you end up with is sound, best left as "back ground" entertainment. I like sitting down and listening to my music as a primary source of enjoyment. This I can do with older recordings. When I try to do this with newer music/recordings, I get the urge to wash dishes, clean up, vacuum, etc. Maybe there is some subliminal message or something? Or maybe I don't feel like robbing, shooting, taking someone else's money, beating a woman, calling her out of her name, or listen to woman who are nymphomaniacs. Maybe I just want to hear musicians who are more talented with traditional musical instruments than they are with computer software.
