Bending Balsa Wood

I want to bend 1/16 th inch balsa against the grain but have had no luck. Is steam the trick? If so, do you use the wife's iron?

mix some fabric softner and water in a squirt bottle and spray it on the balsa....

Steam is the trick, just steam comming off a large pot of water, hold and move the wood till it is moist and pliable, then clamp the wood in the position you desire and let it dry
