And we can relate some of GM's problems to lack of vision, quality control and union problems. If memory serves me correctly, pensions and rising healthcare costs were some of the topics in those union negotiations.Government Moto:

A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.
- George Bernard Shaw
And when the Pauls out number the Peters, Game over.
We then can reflect on how we threw our freedoms away for a promise of security.

Sorry, no. All Obama's fault. No other possible explanation. He's a Muslim you know. Not even born in America, even if he was born in Hawaii, that's not really America anyhow.Originally posted by domwilson View PostAnd we can relate some of GM's problems to lack of vision, quality control and union problems. It took GW Bush a full 8 years to repair the damage done by Clinton and Obama has destroyed all of that in less than a year. Remember, he's a socialist communist fascist.Don't get me started

I could not agree more and we dumb Canucks were sucked into the same bailouts for GM and Chrysler. Ford just posted a pretty nice profit. Yes there were jobs at stake, but companies that build products that people do not want and are badly managed, should just fade away. The Canadian banking system is now seen as a model ....no failures or bailoutsOriginally posted by Steven Vaccaro View PostNice to see you guys are getting back on track.
Obama has effected my life in this way(SO FAR), my local Chevy dealership and GMC dealership where I serviced my car was shut down. Now I have issues getting warranty work done without taking time off from work.
Why do I blame this on Obama? I feel that the government should have never stepped into helping them out in the first place.

So, douggie was it Oba,a's fault or GM's? Seems you're contradicting yourself in that statement.Originally posted by Flying Scotsman View PostI could not agree more and we dumb Canucks were sucked into the same bailouts for GM and Chrysler. BillOriginally posted by Bill-SOCAL View PostDamn you and your logic Sir!!! There is no other possible explanation for GM and Chevy (part of GM) having problems than the intervention of the Half-White Muslim Socialist Communist Fascist America hating wussy Kenyan born Obama. GM was a vibrant hearty company with a bright and rosy future known for their superior quality and excellent customer service. Obama destroyed all of that and now Steven has to take his car to another dealer for service!!

The interesting point is that Obama has certainly changed the perception of the USA to most other nations. The problem is he has not CHANGED domestic concerns, as of this date. His foreign policy will haunt him in Afganhistan and Iraq...time to get out and let the tribes in each country fight it out with each other. Afganhistan is a lost cause for many reasons, bribery, tribal warlords, opium, a bogus police force, etc.

GM started dying years ago. Obama's biggest fault is continuing Bush bailouts, also Timothy Geithner and Ben Bernanke.Samuel Johnson - “An injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere.” William Cooper "listen to everything, read everything, and believe nothing unless you can prove it in your own research!"

One thing Osama is not lacking is confidence. I say pull out. Let him think he's safe. He and his followers will start making public appearances. Then surgically irradicate him and his fanaticals. One thing I have to ask, Do congress members have to take a senility test? I sometimes wonder if they are on the same planet as the rest of us. Most of us want our liberties back, smaller government, lower taxes, healthcare reform, Some stronger regulation in the financial and credit sectors, jobs, domestic growth, immigration reform, less special interest influence in Washington, separation of Big Business from government, fair and equal chance of living the "American Dream" and to live our lives the way we choose, as long as we aren't hurting each other. I may have missed some other things. Why is it so hard to grasp these concepts? It seems in the last few decades foreign policy has taken a front row seat to domestic policy.Government Moto:

No, the dealerships were not the problem. Unions are the cause of the issues and still are for the most part. So yes, the bailout was and is the issue. They would to have restructured and been able to break the back breaking contracts.Originally posted by domwilson View PostWouldn't this have happened if the government didn't help them out?
I have friends work in the local dealerships. How is it that a Cadillac dealership is closed after being in business for over 50 years and making a profit almost every year? How do they shut down a profitable GMC dealership leaving the next closest one is 15 miles away?Steven Vaccaro

Um...Actually I think the closings have to do with cost cutting from the manufacturers...Originally posted by Steven Vaccaro View PostNo, the dealerships were not the problem.
