As Orrin Hatch said this morning. He is happy that an American got the prize. Obama himself admitted that he thought he didn't deserve it. I'm not an Obama fan, but it does get a little tiring hearing overly critical banter about him. He is not the only one in office responsible for this country's woes.

If Obama was a true man of integrity he would turn down the prize until he has earned it. But we all know He is just a typical politician

Obama received the nobel prize because he inspires hope?

So as I read it, he got the award for absolutely nothing, except he inspires hope.

A right leaning friend of mine posted this on another site. I think it says things fairly well with the caveat taht I do not believe as he does taht Obama is leading us into the living hell of a socialist state.

Obama did not apply for the Nobel prize, he was awarded it. There is no way we can criticize him for having been awarded it. In this case the commonly used term "won" is inappropriate. He was awarded it. I watched the announcement (at least the English comments. The committee clearly stated that they awarded him the prize in order to "encourage" him in his pursuit of the following policies:

Nuclear disarmament

Global Warming

Improving relations with the Muslim World.

It is these policies that we should examine Obama's position on. Do they improve our position as Americans. Will this award accomplish it's stated goal of encouraging (pushing) Obama to an even more liberal European view, and act on these views. They believe it will or would not have made the award.

People spend so much time attacking Obama. Not just his politics but even him personally. Watching Rush attack him for this prize was borderline lunacy. Beck? Does he have any credibility? Michael Steele just attacks Obama on any and everything. You really don't want to know what I think of Michael personally. If people don't like Obama's policies, then they should stick with that. This personal attacking just clouds the real issues and demeans intelligent conversation. I believe both sides have arguments that warrant merit. So Obama was awarded the Nobel Prize. I am happy that a fellow american was awarded it. Where has the pride in being american gone? It seems that we spend too much time on pettiness and not enough time on helping our fellow citizens.
