That plan looks even worse. This is the federal guidelines for poverty.. http://www.atdn.org/access/poverty.html How can someone who only makes 30k/yr pay for healthcare coverage? At 30k/yr you would have to be living in your parents basement.

66k/yr for a family of four? You're just struggling with living expenses. Who can afford coverage then? In a high cost of living area, the numbers won't work. His plan sucks!!!
To make his plan work, you would have to have a government option. He should be slapped for even submitting that one.

I don't think anyone does... it's a non-starter... I think this is just a diversionary tactic by the WH and Dems...

Look at what they did while your head was turned... voted to take over COMPLETELY the student loan program...

Now they can tell us what cars to drive, what lightbulbs to use, where we are going to live (they own 80% of mortgages or something like that), who, why, when, and where you will be able to get your eduction...

What about the self employed like myself, I get to pay double the portion the employer and employee?

So I make 5000 per month, pay all my taxes and self employment taxes. and then on top of that I pay mandatory payments of 405 X 2 X 2 (myself and wife) So now Im paying 1620 a month for health care on top of my taxes, I now bring home about 2500 a month. Cool NOT!

That's in Japan. I'm sure the system would be much different here as we are a different country with different tax codes and structure. Throw in the fact that we have a much larger population, the costs would probably be significantly less. Much like in group insurance plans. But it appears to be alot better than the two plans that the media has hyped.

What about the employees of the insurance companies?

As stated in the article, private insurers operate there. They offer supplemental coverage that the basic coverage doesn't offer. "Japan has a vibrant health insurance market and in fact, many of the leading players are actually American firms, including Aflac. "

I'm not honing in on any one system. Just wanted to present alternatives to what the clowns in Washington are trying to give us. We can have a system in place that is not going going to bankrupt this country. As if bankrupt is even possible for this country.
