i'm happy with the speed, the only thing I noticed during the last few runs, I feel like the bow is very heavy, but there's simply nothing in front of the hatch/motor, so I thought about the prop shaft, I'm going to replace it wy a flex drive, I think because the prop is pointing downward (not horizontal) due to the shaft angle, it's lifting the stern, it's not dramaticaly bad but as there's not step on this hull, this might change pretty much the "wetness" and the thing might be a bit more "aerial"!

If you are happy with the speed than you have to look no further. but there may be props that are more efficient are working than your current ones. Metal octura props are not that expensive if you balance them yourself. Which from looking at your work, you are well capable of doing.

hkusp45, all is home made, only the prop shaft is Graupner M4 an fit in 4mm flanged ball bearing from RC car or helis mounted in thick wall aluminium tube, coupling between motor and prop shaft is made from H&M 4mm-4mm, a piece of 4mm flex and a 4mm-5mm coupling.

Motor mount, servo mount, rudder mount are made of 2mm alumium, rudde ris 3mm alu

ESC cooling plate is made of the same 2mm aluminium on witch a 6mm plexiglass milled (4mm deep W shape) with my home made CNC, water tubing is SMC clear PU 4x6mm tube

Motor cooling is a fiberglass tube (from an American powder spray gun body) and the motor is just maintained by two silicon seal (rectangle section)

Steven, I'm running a K40,5, with the single pack of 4000 (Camelion RC car pack), the thing weight "only 2.3Kg (5lb), I don't really want to go for some expensive prop like Prather or Octura, I know this could help but budget is budget! As I'm pulling 68 constant and 76 peak, I don't think I'll get any better with any other K or S prop! what do you think?

here are the graph with amps and volts but no rpm cause I don't have the sensor yet!
I'll purchase it next month as well as some IB4200 :D
the first graph is with 2x12xGP2200 in parallel
the second is with 12 cheap 4000 nimh... much better voltage, higher amps and 600grams less than GP's
these runs were done on a narrow canal so each 5 second peak correspond to approximately 230-250 feet of run
it's great to be able to compare isn't it!

Its amazing how far we have come in the last 10 years. Good work. Now the fun part is finding the right prop.

Hey hey!
We tested the Eagle Tree MicroPower today (or did we tested some boat? can remember :D), it's just great!
Here's what we saw with the 8xl running a K40,5 prop...
1) with 2 packs in parallel of 12 GP2200nimh:
68A peak 58A average, voltage dropped to 9V, maxpower 630W average 540W

2) with 1 pack of cheap 4000nimh:
75A peak 68A average, voltage dropped to 11V, maxpower 840W average 760W

Now I know what's going on! And it's going faster with the single pack!

So I've got 24 GP2200 for sale :D

I'm running a K40.5 prop, and for such a large hull ,a bigger prop would be better I think, with your 2x10xl, your boat's gonna fly Mich. and you should be able to use 45mm dia props

thats the best news ive heard in while, I went with the 10xl's on my build. with 2 im hoping there wont be too much amp draw at full throttle

you are right Fluid, that's why I purchased the Eagle tree recorder.
I would say that from the day I started, I've learn a lot (thx OSE) and for the boat I have, a 10 or a 12 xl would have been better than the 8xl, I'll have the numbers by the end of the week end!
