I will check out his props for sure. So I am pretty sure I have the stupid question of the day with this one.... Keep in mind, on the electric side, I come from cars and trucks so please do not roast me too bad. Can you program reverse into the MGM ESCs? I know bad things can happen with the directional flex shafts if you run them wide open backwards, but I cannot find a definitive answer on the MGM site.

Youre definitely on the right track with everything. I haven't run the MGM you listed but have heard good things from people with similar sized twin cats. 4s will be good for starting, you'll get a chance to learn how the hull responds to drive / CG adjustments. As far as props go should check out the OSE store Steve has props fully prepped for a deal, think they got a 447 c/r balanced and sharpened set in stock.

I think that is sound plan. If you decide at a later date to 'Go For It' with 6s and good props the 4050's (or 4060's) will pull 250'ish amps. FYI: it will pull those amps for a second or two then settle down to half that.

Definitely give yourself headroom if you plan on going with 4060's eventually. My 32" cat with a 4060 TP 1750kv pulls over 200 amps with an m545. I bet the 1950kv could pull close to 240 amps with the right prop

Fairly certain i have done enough reading to thoroughly confuse myself. After looking at many of the TPs, it seems like the 4050 2100kv is the most logical. If I get brave enough, the TP 4060 is an option down the road. For the ESCs, I am thinking of using the MGM TMM 28026-3 Lite. Seems to be an overkill for the 4050's, but would allow the use of the 4060's in the future. And until I figure this thing out i will be using 4s packs. Or am I going in the total wrong direction?

    Thank for all the help!

I have those TP4050 2100kv and they are a delight! I'm glad Shawn suggested them. To me
They just seem like they don't stop pulling, in my case I have to lift off the trigger before I run ashore but the motors are beastly. No complaints so far.

Sure speed is important, but I would trade speed to have stability...

Also, what are you using to glue mounts into the hull with? G-Flex?

Again, I appreciate all the help.
I use SystemThree laminating epoxy exclusively. But West System is good too. A Fibreglass or plastics shop could help you here, there are smaller portions available.

As far as motors either one you list is good. The 4060's do pull a few more amps than the 4050's. My 4050's are pulling upwards of 6,000 watts power on each side at peak and have been in the boat 4 years now. I think it is 740 watts = 1 hp just to give you a number you may be able to relate to gas.

Also Keagan there has a pair of 4050 2100kv's in a slightly smaller boat(41") and is running 90mph now on 6s.
He started out at 60'ish mph and tweaked and tuned this one up to 90.
So the 1950kv's should also be around there but need to push a bigger prop to do it.

I'd stick with TP as those guys mentioned!

Thank you for the info on the TP Motors. I had not looked at them until today.

Has anyone tried the scorpion 3026 outrunner?

As Srislash (Shawn), has said the Tp is a great motor and I too think TP should be your choice over Leopard.

A lot of us have run pretty high kv motors on 6s here and setups have survived but if you're a beginner I think it might be wise to go with a slightly lower KV. TP makes a 1950kv and 2100kv version of the motor I listed, if you can let us know more about what you consider a good speed that will help. Esc I would go with a seaking 180, a lot of people I know personally have had luck even with very aggressive setups.

Props are top of the list when it comes to figuring out a new setup. I would get a set of Octura 447s from Dasboata Chris does very nice work.

Not sure of cell count I imagine you'll be shooting for 6s? A 6s setup with 2100 or even 1950kv motors will be really fast. If possible I'd grab two 5s packs too. Or two 4s, can always series a 2s later on. On 6s you'll have a very powerful, very fast boat which can make it tough to figure out how to properly tune in the hull to run well. 2100kv will allow for 90+ mph on 6s with the right props.

If going with any of the motors listed I still think starting on 4s or 5s is a good idea. Ultimately 6s will be fine. I just think its wise and more relaxing to start with something easier on the entire system, allowing you to learn a bit about the boat.

Let us know more and great choice with the mystic.

Ok, you are fairly on the right track but I would go TP. What batteries or charger do you have or are looking at? Just trying to establish if 4s or 6s is best

My only experience with boats is a 56" Aeromarine Apache with a 30cc engine. Great boat, just mixing fuel gets old.

This is a twin motor setup. Drives, rudder and motor mounts are ready installed.

I was tentatively planning leopard 4082s and seaking 180A esc's.

    Thank you
Do you have much experience in boats and is it set up for single motor or twin motors? Just a preliminary question. Shawn

Hi, I do not have much experience but I am joining one of those.
Buy a set of 2200kv leopard engines and a set of 1700kv TP to evaluate which to use.
The esc I have available handle up to 6 lipo and I was recommended to use the TP here. A 2200kv with a turnigy 180a could be somewhat unstable. Engines are around $ 110.

Pay the same money for TP and leopard engines and appreciate a quality difference between the two brands. It gives me better sense of quality TP motors.
And the turnigy / seaking 180a, I do not know what to think, do not use these new ones. And it has read several publications with users who are having problems of operation with these esc. These ESCs also hover around $ 80/120.
I hope you understand my English. Regards!
    Saludos!!!
