I know the bullet connectors are better but I hate em. They fit really tight, then the damn heat shrink ends up pulling back from the plug ends and expose the metal. They're just volatile. They touch things and POW!I was worried about the traxxas plugs, but I thought, damn i have 6s pushing a 30 lb 1/8th scale truck with a mamba monster system using traxxas plugs, hopefully my boat will handle it.

The wire isn't causing it, it definatley sounds like LVC kicking in and its because of the higher amps frm using a bigger prop, easy solution manually enter cell count to 6 and run lvc at 3.2 or even 3.0. You'll know if it works in 50 yards right? lol BTW why the heck would you get sick of 6mm bullets?? traxxas connectors can only handle about 130 amps and theyw ill start to melt the solder FYI, plus bullets=less connections.

Would this cause my problem? ESC wires are 10 gauge and wire connecting the two is 12 gauge.

Sounds like the batteries can't handle the load, the voltage is dropping and the esc goes into lvc mode.
What C and mah are the packs?
Are all the solder joints good, all nice and shiny not dull granular looking cold joints? Usually a bad joint would heat up due to the resistance.

Had this happen before, was running 2p with a sets of batts then tried 1p on the same set, what you are describing happened. Changed to a newer batt and the problem went away.

Diesel has the correct answer. It seems to be a common problem with the Turnigy/Seaking 180A ESC's. We've had to switch off the LVC in a few of these at our club. Even after trying the manual cellcount setting & 3.2V or 3.4V settings. But do try it first because sometimes it fixes the problem.

Yea I would say that sounds like the seaking issue. Make sure your are manually entering the cell count and not using auto detect function. Try 3.2v per cell lvc first then maybe turn it off if that upper to things don't work. JMHO

try reprogramming the esc - turnigy? the main thing you did was increase amp draw with props and increase resistance in the plugs, but if they aren't getting warm I don't see how they could be the cause. Try turning off LVC and use a stopwatch and cell meter.

Ran fine with the same batteries with 6mm plugs. They are 5000mah batteries 40c and 180 amp esc. Maybe the traxxas plugs? Only thing I can think is esc and batteries have 10 gauge wire and series plug has 12 gauge. Would that be a problem? Definitely behaves like lvc mode kicking in.

what speed control and what mah batteries? how does the motor spin when you twist it with your fingers detached from the drive line?

Motor may be demagnetizing. When it gets to a certain temp it loses power.

I put a new prop on my boat (X445) and now it takes of good and fast then after maybe 50 yds it cuts to probably a little over half speed. Like 25mph full throttle. Its almost like the cutoff when your batteries are low and you drop to half speed.

Its a 34 inch cat on 6s (two 3s series) with a leopard 4082. The only thing different than changing the prop is I got tired of the 6mm plugs and put traxxas plugs on the series setup. Nothing is hot. Any ideas?
