    for some reason i though this was the ul1 60 amp version. So yeah 3s should work, but no lipo cut off.

    No reason to use two deans connectors with one lipo. Shaughnessy drew a picture exactly as I was describing. Good job. and as many have mentioned, do not use deans...go to Bullets. I have personally melted Deans and solder off of them, in a 3s setup pulling low amps.

    This is an easy fix. Just copy the picture. If you are going to use deans ( wouldn't recommend it) make sure you solder + to + and - to - cause in my pic they are reversed.

    Hobbyking has 5.5 mm bullets in stock right now, you may want to order some up. get the ones that start with am for the part number.

    You may be able to disable the lipo cutoff for the esc and use 3s then just have a separate lipo cut off, but i'm not sure if it will arm with only 3s power.

    Yes, he'll need a jumper at one of the Deans to close the circuit. Or better yet, cut all that cr*p off and solder on a set of 5.5mm (or larger) bullets.

    to use a single 4s pack, you don't need a jumper. Its straight esc to battery, positive to positive and negative to negative. You only need a jumper if you are wiring in Series, which was it's original configuration. Hope this helps.

    Cool, single 4s and jumper it is. Its only 45amp but will keep it as a backup anyhow. Will need a low voltage cutoff too.

    As long as you run a single 4s pack you will be fine, if you want to run two packs in series it would have to plug into a harness that connects both batteries in series then plugs into the esc.
    My old style SV esc only has a positive wire and a negative wire coming off it each one has a 5.5 bullet connector.
    I bought the boat used, to tell you the truth I didn't even know they came from the factory wired like that! Just assumed they all plugged into a separate battery harness.
    Thought they all had two plain leads coming off.

    Fluid is right - the esc is wired for series, not parallel. You can't just cut one off or jumper it - it won't have the voltage necessary to operate.

    Mine are long gone, bullet connectors now that go in into a custom harness. Won't hurt a thing, in fact it's recommended to get rid of those stock connectors. They don't handle too many amps without heating up.

    I have a spare ESC from a SV27R lying around which I'm thinking of putting in one of my small 22" arowana builds.

    Can I chop one of the leads off and re-connect to make it a single battery setup?

    I could run a small 3 or 4 cell single instead of the 2 x 2cells recommended?
