better brushless esc for widowmaker

Don't know if I'm going to get another boat, it's hard for me for some reason to get that boat out. it's like my nitro car I guess, you have to deal with more stuff then an electric car. I have to many prodjects too, like my kyosho mini-z brushless boat and tons of car builds. I plan to keep the widow tho, so I'll go with the seaking.

I have a bigger oversized metal prop and a dynamite 5300 7.4 lipo. I don't want to hassle the shipping, knocks the price of the new esc anyway. if they were in the upper 100-200 dollar range then yeah I would warranty it.

ul1 esc might treat you better but ur moving to the next level

I think swordfish would be good choice, UL-1 esc $84.99, 60 amps vs Swordfish $84.99 (get the programming card) 120 amps he's getting double the amps for same price. I love my ul-1 electrics, but I run the motor and esc together they are perfectly matched (IMO), he would need something programmable for future set-ups. JMHO of course.

what prop i was dabbling in buying a mini a pb seems to be the way to go dependable and upgradable

wow, I thought the water cooling keeps things running cooler and longer. it must get real hot in the hull. no wonder it seemed like the lipos didn't last as long as in my 1/10 scale short course.
hobbywing must be a good all around esc for all rc. Every body uses them at my short course track too. 60 bucks! not bad, I think I'll save time and order one.

Cooler yes, longer not so much. The amp draws on boats compared to cars is almost double if not more (depending on set-ups of course) heat builds up fast. Without some source of cooling the electrics wouldn't stand a chance. The seaking marine esc's are very nice and like I said 60 amp should cover you. I assume your still running stock motor? If you want to buy a esc that you can use in different set-ups because I'm sure you will grow out of the WM pretty quick, buy a swordfish 120 from here at OSE and it will cover a wider range of set-ups.

10 minutes of running is a VERY long time in FE boats. Cut your runtime down. Proboat is a good company and their bj motor and esc are very very good. Sadly the wm esc is known to have problems. The problme is in the lipo/nimh switch is known to cause esc failures. If still with in warrenty send back to PB and they will send you a upgraded esc. If you want to just change esc's completly a 60 amp seaking will do the trick. Work on run time, because no matter what esc or motor you put in it continuing to run 10ms will burn them all out, would just be a matter of time. Also their is a proboat section toward the bottom of the forums homepage that you can find more information on this boat in and find what others are doing.

fried my esc today for the proboat widow maker. had a corrosion clog from the first run a year ago, cleared it out with wd40, but I guess the corrosion ate through the inner seal of the esc. the lake I ran it has no salt, just a water storage! I think it was poorly sealed at the factory. ran good for 10min then started cutting out, did a full throttle then nothing. plugged in the battery later and the esc was spitting steam out of the glue where the wires go into. got super hot. wondering if anybody knows of a good esc for that boat and motor, maybe non water cooled. I don't trust pro boat electronics anymore.
